Well, since the last band reunion, I've been busy. About 2 weeks after the last reunion, I gave birth to my son, Aaron. The following fall I did my music therapy internship with the Clayton County Board of Education. When that was completed, I decided to be a stay at home mommy. Then Katharin Ruth joined our family. When she was 1, Victoria's private school offered me the position of music teacher which I accepted. Unfortunately, they only went up through 5th grade, and when she reached that point my husband and I had some decisions to make. We decided to-after SWEARING I would never do it-homeschool our kids. I love it!
I certified in Kindermusik so that I could work at DFS 4 years ago. Since then, they roped me into teaching 1 gym class a week, then 4, then 12, then being gym director. Who EVER would have imagined that 15 years ago! I love my job...how many people can say that they get paid to go to work and PLAY! I also teach 1 TKD class per week, and sub several others as needed. Again, I love having a job where I get paid to go hit things and force unruly little children to behave.
Talk about feeling old, my daughter has 2 friends who GO to North, and 1 of them is in her 2nd year in the band...YIKES! Although, they don't go AWAY to band camp anymore...seems kind of sad to me.
My favorite worst memory was getting my oboe swab stuck inside my oboe during our performance at the NAI in Atlanta...right before Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral...Dinkins had a fit (understandably...having a teenager now, I know how *not smart* they can be at times) and took the top half of my oboe, stuffed a triangle mallet in it, and jammed it against the wall to release the swab. I still have, and USE that same swab to this day (yes, I'm a geek and I still play)
