Joel was the most beautiful and brilliant person I ever met.  I regret being unable to connect with him before he passed away.  His passing is a great loss to the world.  I miss him.

Joel was my best friend for the last couple years at Chamberlain, and teammate on the "Categorically Speaking" quiz team. He was brilliant and individual. After high school we went our separate ways, and I don't think I ever saw him again, although I may have spoken to him on the phone once or twice, and we did conduct a brief email exchange many years later. Sorry to hear he's moved on.

I didn't know Joel very well. He sat behind me in Civics at Adams Jr High, but we didn't have any classes together at Chamberlain. The one thing that I do remember about him is that he was very kind -- and very intelligent. I was very shy and and kind of stayed to myself in both Junior High & High School, so when someone went out of their way to be kind to me, it really counted, and still does!

Thank you for your kindness, Joel, and for making me feel like I was visible during a time when I felt very invisible. People like you make a beautiful difference. :-)
