Oh, I forgot, Anna, Thanks for starting to call around. I'm only speaking for myself, but I would vote to have a buffet style with heavy hors d'overs since this will make it easier to mingle and "reunite" :-) Also it will probably be more affordable. Just my opinion, though.

And Jessica, I didn't see your post earlier, but that's great that you might have a DJ. If you think he's good, as soon as we can set a date, let's try to book him. We will definitly need some music and someone to emcee.

As far as the hours, I'm not sure... I would guess at least 5-6 hours. Especially if they include set up and clean up time. The country clubs will definitely expect us to do a lot of that, but Lake receptions may handle all that for us.

i am have talked to three places, i have gave them the guess of 38o number of poeple that is our class size times 2.yes buffet is cheaper and so far no place is big enough to hold all those poeple, lake rec. hasnt called me back, harbor hills called can only hold about 250 to 300 poeple, which i think would be fine for the room for 4 hours it is750 and 5th hour another 100. buffet 23.99 a per, and sit down 18.99 per personand 50 per a bartender.and she told me for a group that big we should have 2 bartenders.thats at harbor hills. silver lake got tore down. i call vic ambers they said places in the villages would have a place big enough i still have to call the but for vics to catrer it buffet would be 19.95 plus 300 per a table for set up.or we could do appitzers and they are 19.95 per a pladder. lakeside inn is too small. and that is all that have called me back, i will call agian on monday. so i was thinking we would have it in may because that is when we graduted, but you guys are talking about football season does that mean year football season or this one?? i dont think we could get it done by this year and next year isnt our year, just a thought. so i was thinking may. thought??

Wow Citabria....So I just read over everything...Where do I begin? Yes I do know a DJ...yes he is great...and I'm sure he would be willing to do it.

I can call the school and see about football games, schedules and so forth. Do we want to do it on homecoming week?? I am going to be out of town in the middle of October next year (the weekend of Oct. 17th) and would hate this to be scheduled the same weekend....because I don't want to miss out!! =) So I will call and check with the school about the dates...and see what they say.

I think that Lake Receptions would be great. We could also check with The Community Center in Eustis and I used to work for a catering company and may be able to get some good deals on catering if we just have a venue.

I think I'm going to try to continue to get people to sign up on this website and maybe see if there is a way to send a mass email.

We should try to set up a meeting sometime...and throw around some ideas of themes and whatnot.

Citabria would it be ok with you if we did set up some type of reunion committee with the intention of passing everything by you before any decisions are made?

I hope everyone is well and keeping up here!

Hey guys! Wow, you gals have been busy! I didn't even think about the villiages. If we did it during the 2009 football season, that would be next football season (and still our year since we graduated in 1999) I just thought that would give people an extra "event" to take part in and that people would enjoy actually going back to the school and seeing it.

Those prices sound about right to me. Did they say when and how much of a deposit they require?

Jess-- I am totally FINE with you guys starting a committee! Please feel free to do whatever you need to to. I realize that I can't get much done from up here in NC and I just want to help however I can. If we could send a mass email to those who have joined this site, other people might sign up for the committe or offer suggestions on the message board as well. Does that button on the ADMIN FUNCTIONS that says email the class do that? (is that a dumb question? :-)

Hope you guys are doing well!

I think O'Keefes is a really good place for after the game on Friday night. I hosted an event there about 2 years ago and they were very accommodating to a large group. We had about 60 people and all I had to do was call ahead and let them know we were coming the day prior. They reserved a whole section of the bar area for us.

Hi guys! Just wanted to drop in and say hi! You've all done a great job so far with the planning. Kevin and I would love to be involved but life is getting in the way and we have to dedicate our time to other projects. I am sure that you will do a wonderful job with everything and Kevin and I both look forward to seeing everyone in a year. I just can't believe how fast nine years has flown!

Good luck with everything!
~April :)

Hi everybody!! So the planning has begun! This is pretty exciting! Wow.... I'm starting to feel old. Even though I am way the heck up here by NYC, I would love to be able to help in any way. ***Just as a side note I think having it during the '09 football season is a great idea. There are alot of other functions that take place in May so many people may not be able to make it (me included). I can't wait!

I vote for the Homecoming game/weekend of 2009 as well. Perhaps we can mention this to the school as well and they can help out with preparations (seating during the game, etc.).

I spoke with the school and they said that the schedule for the football games are generally done in March or April. Homecoming was this past weekend and I believe it is usually around the same time during each school year. The school said that generally reunions are done at a homecoming game but they could make arrangements for any home game. I went to this years homecoming game...and if you haven't been to the school lately......you are going to be SHOCKED..its totally different. I imagine that they could have someone give us a tour of the new school if we wanted (I've heard of them doing this sometimes before the games.) I saw some people from 98 out this weekend...it was nice to see them. I hope we have as much fun as they looked like they were.....(if not more!)

I'm sure a tour could be arranged. I went on the tour during my mom's class reunion in '06 and I can't believe the difference. I went to Google Earth and grabbed and labeled this picture:

This is a pre-completion picture of the construction...taken in 2004.

It is definitely not the school we went to :(

Hello!! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been checking with the school to see when they are having homecoming. She said probably October 9th but it was between that and I think the 31st she said. (I talked to Jackie Seward...the coach's wife) I'm supposed to check back with her in a couple weeks (as of last week)...I will probably check back next week. So as soon as I find something out I will be sure to let you know. Then we can really get moving on some planning!!

I hope everyone is well....
Talk to you all soon!

Hello everyone again!

I just wanted to let you all know that I got in contact with the Athletic Director at the school he said October 9th is the scheduled homecoming date. He also told me that when we have the plans made I could contact him again and he will give the information to the correct person there at the school in case of any phone calls.

So I guess we can get going on some plans.

I also got to see the DJ this weekend. He thinks that he is available for the weekend of the 9th. Any suggestions from anyone would be welcome.

Thanks

I was thinking we need to start some kind of committee and have a meeting soon. There are places that need more advance notice then we have now so we need to get the ball rolling. If you are interested in being a part of this committee please let me know.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

My mom sent me an email that's going around. Evidentally, someone is trying to get an 'everyone who's ever graduated from THS' reunion for this year's homecoming. I'm not sure what that'll do to our plans, so I thought I'd pass it so the committee can make arrangements.

Here's the website: http://thsalum.com/

I received the same e-mail, about the THS Alumni party. I take it this is not our actual class reunion?

I've had a few out-of-town classmates who are not in this forum ask if there were any details available. Does anyone know anything?

I can't believe how quickly time is flying! We're at just over a month away!

Thought I would post here to see if I can get some feedback. I am meeting with the owner of Ruby Street (next to O'Keefes) on Tuesday. I am trying to get a rough headcount on who would be interested meeting there the Saturday after homecoming which would be Saturday October 10th. The more people we have the better deal I can get worked out on prices of food and adult beverages.

I would like to be there so count me for 2.

Not sure if everyone is set up with email on here...just thought I would post the email on the forum too:

Hey class!

Sorry it has taken so long for me to contact you. Thankfully David Miller has been working and found a place for our reunion. He will be meeting with the people at Ruby Street Grill, located in downtown Tavares next to O'keefes.

We were looking to plan something for Saturday October 10, 2009 from 6-9 pm, I imagine we can stay later if we are having a good time....or move the good time somewhere else. He is trying to get a head count so that we can get some good deals on drinks and food. Please let me know if you think you will be able to make it, and even if you can't, please let me know.

I'm assuming the plans for the game Friday night still stand. If you would let me know if you are coming to the game I will try to get in there early and save some space so we can all sit together. I will contact the school...maybe we could get a tour like we talked about before, since the campus is so different.

I hope everyone has time to get something together to come. I'm sure it will be a great time!!

Thanks for your patience,

Jessica Hopperton

Please don't hesitate to call or email me if you have questions. My number is 352-321-2709 or email jespoo5481@yahoo.com or contact me on Facebook
