Social Events

Someone mentioned that it might be fun to have some other social events.  They mentioned a possible golf tournament on Saturday.  Those from out of town coming some distance may want to stay a few days.  The golf tournament could even possibly be Friday before the social at Nicks.

Someone had mentioned a tour of the "new school"!

It's been almost a decade since I've been up there and I'm guessing much has changed.

Maybe Nick can help us with golf.  Want to email him and see what he says??  The tour of the school maybe something I can help with.  I know a couple of people on the school board who maybe of some assistance - doesn't hurt to ask.

Maybe we should poll the class.  What do you think?  Send out an email to everyone?

I'm not a golfer, but I used to bowl a good game, so I would be upr for that.  A tournament with prizes to be awarded at Nick's party?  If golf wins, I've always wanted to ride in one of those carts too!  Can you do that if you don't actually golf?

At the last reunion we had a van and took, I think, 11 people on a tour of Tehachapi.  What fun that was!!  All the memories that generated.  We laughed until our sides hurt.  We ended with a stop at the Burger Spot for refreshments.  Remember the Burger Spot?

Me - not a golfer either, but may be able to hold a spot at the 19th hole!!  Do you all remember when Golden Hills Country Club first opened?  Didn't they let us go out and try it for free??  I seem to remember gettin' in the way of some serious golfers whom I'm sure were not delighted to have us out on the new fairway with them.....

I suppose we could go tell ghost stories in the old country club building that's boarded up and almost condemned now--- (just kiddin if this is being monitored by Kern Co Sheriff)!

I'am not a golfer either, but, the bowling sounds good, but, where, I tought I read that the bowling alley was closed?

And speaking of Golden Hills (first known as Oak Knolls) does anyone remember our sexy truck drivers family  use to live in the old ranch house at the bottom of the hill just coming into Golden hills?

Donna,

The idea of a tour in a van sounds like fun, maybe even in an old volkswagon (hippie) van, I've seen quite a few on the roads lately.

I wouldn't mind a tour.  Haven't been there in sometime and have heard that it has changed quite a bit.

Yes, we had a lot of fun at Nancy's house. I remember going there for parties. We played a game called "crossed or uncrossed" and I always lost and never could figure it out. Maybe Nancy can teach us and we can play it at the reunion. One of the things I remember was during senior year a bunch of us who weren't going to the prom went out to Nancy's and had a hot dog roast. It was a lot of fun. Nancy's parents were great for putting up with all of us.

When we moved to Tehachapi when I was two years old, we lived where Nancy lived (she didn't live there

then).  It was called Cuddeback Ranch. Not sure of the spelling.  A guy owned the property and it had several

houses on it.  We lived in one of them.  I only remember a little about it.  I remember riding a horse.  I

remember going to one of our neighbors houses and waking them up at 6:00 am.  I also remember a dog ran

away with my favorite doll.  When we found it, the dog had torn it up.  My Mom took it into her bedroom and did

"surgery" on it and fixed as well as she could.  My Mom--I miss her so much.

Connie I didn't know you lived in the old Cuddeback Ranch house.  We moved there, I think,  when I was in high school, a Jr. I think.  That was the largest and nicest house my family had ever lived in.  I loved it.  We even got a pool table upstairs.  I learned to play a mean game of pool, waiting for Heidi to be born.  A big belly is great for laying on the table to get a long shot across the table!  Claudia I remember the hot dog roast prom night.  My brother-in-law had a 68 Firebird, brand new, and he let me take you guys for a ride in it.  Do any of you remember racing Calvin, driving Gary's car, on Old Town Rd?  I do, I slid around one of the corners and fish-tailed and panicked because if I had scratched that new car my life would have ended that night!!  Does anyone remember a party at Jacque's house? Was that the night we went out to see "Erma" the ghost in the Catholic Cemetery?  I remember being one of 6 people in the back seat of Gary's car.

I feel old as dirt saying this but I remember the Cuddeback's. Elizabeth Cuddeback was my Mom's nurse when I was born.  Her husband was a real cowboy and walked around with a bad limp - some kind of a horse riding accident.  I remember that ranch when they lived there. It was truly out in the country with only a few people around. Boy do I miss those days.
