In Memory

Rick Owens

Rick was born in Compton, CA on August 21, 1948, and returned to our Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick attended Torrance High School, then served as a Ranger in special unit Long Range Reconnaisance Patrol in Vietnam. When he returned to the States, he graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a degree in Accounting which he put to use as a CPA for the past 30 years. Most recently, he worked as an internal auditor for Zacky Farms, which brought him and his wife to the Fresno area where he lived the final years of his life. His greatest joy was raising his children and coaching. He also loved watching his sons play basketball. Rick is survived by his loving wife Leslie; his daughter Kayla; and sons Matthew and Tyler. A Funeral Service will be held at Northwest Church on Monday, May 2, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Northwest Church. We thought he was out of his mind when he married and had a new daughter at 53 years old.   He loved that little girl so much and so wanted to dance at her wedding.   He went to Maryland for an intensive cancer treatment, but it came back a few months later.   He told me that he would rather have quality time with his wife and daughter then go through the procedure again.

He had a fast wit and a funny sense of humor.  I met Rick in the 8th grade at Howard Wood at a friends house and we bacame 'jacks' partners.  He always sweared that he was the best 'jacks' player and I was the one that sucked.  i BEG TO DIFFER!

Rick was a great friend to many and is greatly missed.

Best Friends, Ky Azlein and Rick Owens
