Cheryl was born on August 5, 1952, in North Carolina.  Her family moved to Tucson when she was young.  At Catalina she met her future husband, Christopher Shay, who was also in the Class of 1970, and they were married on April 16, 1971 at St Francis Cabrini Catholic Church.  Cheryl and Christopher were living in Mesa, Arizona at the time of her death on May 22, 1976.  She was just 23 years old.
