Kerry was born in Biloxi, Mississippi to Robert and Beverly Bauer.  She was their first child and they had another daughter, Rhoda Lee, who was born when Kerry was three.  The family moved to Tucson where Kerry graduated from Catalina High School.  She received a scholarship to Lamson Business College. She married Charles David Barfield in 1970.  Kerry had one child.  She was predeceased by her parents and sister and died after a long illness in 2016.
