From a line in Shakespeare I believe  " Alas poor Richard, for I knew him well...."

in the early band days when the band room was next to the auto shop  Richard and I ended up actually sitting next to each other during band practice. He played saxophone, and I played trumpet.  We hit it off very quickly and became good HS buds, much to the chagrin of Mr. Carlyle Webb the band director at the time.
Out of class he'd occasionally give me a ride home on his (then ) new Honda 50 motorcycle. He was jovial and fun to be around. I lost touch with Richard after High School, he had talked briefly about going to L.A. before we graduated.
I happened to catch his mother at the Phoenix airport a year or so later, as I was at that point in my life in the U.S. Navy and heading to Alaska. We talked briefly, she was glad to see me and gave me Richards address and phone number. I never got the chance to call, sent a letter, but never received a reply.
I was surprised to see in the class roster he had passed away. Richard was a kind and gentle soul. I am sure you are missed by those you knew and loved.  May you be blessed to rest in Eternal peace.
Your Friend,

Robert Kyle Class of 1970
