That does sound like a good idea. I know TJ I could watch those movies over and over and never get tired of them. Brings back so many memories of junior high and high school. Sometimes I wish we had a time machine to go back and know what we know now.

I am totally with you Kristi! I wish I would have appreciated more people when I was younger! I guess we have learned from the mistakes of the past and value the friendships we have now more because of how we were then.

Those movies bring back such great memories though. My daughter and I love to watch them.

I remember Tina and I would watch Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink almost every day after school. We had those movies completely memorized! Apparently it stuck with me b/c those quotes came out of my head w/no effort whatsoever.

"Dong...Doooonnng...where is my automobile?"
"AUTOMOBILLLLLE. Lake, big lake"

"The Donger is here for 5 minutes and gets a girl. I live here my whole life and I'm like a disease."

Ok, one more...

"Oh look Fred, they're so PERKY."
"I can't believe my grandmother felt me up. And I can't believe I gave my panties to a geek."

Alright boys and girls, I've got a busy day then off early. You kids have a safe and happy weekend. I'll see a few of you on Sunday and to the rest, we can update you next week on how the 1st meeting goes.

Adios...

I got it from someone who saved everyone's senior picture. That is the joy of being the administrator too...I get to upload the pics! I only got a few of them so when people find their senior pictures they can send them to me and I can upload more! So if you have any from your friends send them my way!

Good Lord, You all have been awefully busy in the last few days! What a range of topics, too.

Alan Potter/Jason Sullivent: I remember driving to the party in reverse and seeing all the chaos.(crappy old Maverick) It had just happened. Matt Hall, William Heffernan, and I went in, saw Alan, found Jason and he was on the phone to 911. Wiz and Matt stayed and I started ferrying people home who didn't want to get caught there. When I got back, I stood outside for a while until Alan's body was taken out and then the cops came and got me and took me inside for questions. Jason was sitting on the coffee table in handcuffs, just staring. I heard later on that his mom slapped him as soon as she got there. There was a picture somewhere of me hugging Jennifer Bolton in front of an ambulance. I didn't go home that night and if I remember correctly, our school pictures were the next day.

Jason and I weren't really close, but I know he had a troubled homelife. He stayed at my house about a month before that after I gave him a ride from the Palladium. He was afraid to go home that night for some reason.

I didn't know Alan that well, except for I remember ending up in his van after a party the summer after he graduated. We were chasing cats around the neighborhood in it. Man, I hadn't thought about that stuff for a long time.

Edited to add: Does anyone know, has Jason come up for parole or anything? Has there been any news about him?

That one was getting too long. Plus this is on a happier note.

Movies: My favorite from that genre had to be Wierd Science. Too many quotes to give you all of them. So I'll just give you my favorite:

Michael Anthony Hall (drunk and talking about Chet, Bill Paxton's character):

"He's an @$$hole. Anybody wid' a haircut like dat has to be an @$$hole."

Looking at the old yearbooks, that could have applied to many many people. What were we thinking with our hair. My coworkers didn't believe me when I said that I had a mullet in school. I had to bring them pictures!

OK last one.

Kenny Giddens: I was out of town when Kenny Died. It was right after Junior Year. I went to San Diego with my cousing Michael (do you guys remember him?) We took Scott Oelke with us. Scott got a call with the new about Kenny at my Grandpa's house out there and we had to take him to the airport that night. I didn't hear the rest until we got home.

I don't know why I'm sharing these things. But it's just the memories that the discussion makes me think of I guess.

Sorry to write so much.

Nobody needs to apologize for sharing about those tragedies. As I read your memories, the grown up in me is so sad and upset for the "kids" that had to go through that. Imagine how traumatic it would be for your kids to experience something similar. Not to sound like a counselor, but it is really good that everyone is talking and getting it out.

You know, these days, when there is a school shooting/tragedy, there is an outpouring of support for the kids, extra counseling, excused absences, etc. Did our school do any of that or did they just operate like normal, ie. Picture day? Really?

I totally agree with you Katrina. Even though I didnt know Alan that long I really affected me and I really had know one to talk to about it except maybe Alex because we were both there.

Ya Alex, he came up for parole a couple of years ago and was denied. It was in the paper.

Alex, According to the OK Dept. of Correction website - it says he is not eligible for parole. He still looks the same too. Pretty scary! I have to say that I also searched on there for other classmates (just to see if we have other in prison) and thankfully I didn't find anyone!

That is pretty scary, he does look the same. I just went on the website and saw his info.

Mercy you all have been busy chatting it up! I've known Jason since 2nd grade and his home life was never good. This doesn't excuse what he did, but it does help explain why he was so scared for his parents to find out that he had the party. Since I'm such an avid follower of crimes and the criminal justice system, I cannot believe they gave him life without parole. He was a kid and it wasn't premeditated. Oh well, our system isn't always right! On a brighter note..I loved reading Sue's recollection of Sixteen Candles, I still watch that and several other movies that were out at that time....I guess it's my way of staying connected to my teenage years!

My way of staying young is having young friends! All of my friends here in CO Springs are college age (gee...I wonder why?)

Stephanie I too am an advid criminal person - I tend to keep up with criminal cases. I actually have my first jury summons and truly hope that they pick me for a good one! I doubt that I get picked though...I actually helped seat juries when I worked for a criminal attorney in AR. Oh Well.

I vaguely remember being in the hotel room in Padre. Probably sick and laying on the bathroom floor;) but the two movies that everybody kept watching OVER AND OVER on HBO was Dirty Dancing and Platoon. Talk about multiple personalities having both of those movies completely memorized by the time we left.

Yanno TJ I would love to serve on a jury, but I have yet to be called! What's up with that?? haha

I was called up one time right before I moved to VA. It was some stupid case on a car wreck. Neither of them got a dime because they were both at fault, but it was very intresting how it all worked. I think if I was good at math and science I would love to do CSI stuff. I fell in love with all of that when I was a kid and visit the FBI in Washington D.C. and saw all of the forensics. Very intresting.

Stupid question but did anyone notice I added a couple videos - 16 candles and Breakfast Club.

And the Thriller Dance from 13 going on 30. I tried to get the actual one from Youtube but everyone single one of them that I found had the embedding code disabled. Oh well! The one I found will have to do.

Sweet videos...makes me want to sit down and watch Sixteen Candles again. :)

St. Elmo's Fire, that was another one from that time that I loved. Rob Lowe was so hot. LOL.

I just got off of Federal Grand Jury duty after a full year. You can have it! It was interesting, but it's more than a bit depressing to see the horrible things people do to one another. I saw several cases with ECHS grads involved. Gee, was I ever proud...

Weird Science?

"Gimme da keys Lisa, I can drive..."

FEDERAL Grand jury for a YEAR? Sheesh, how'd that happen?

Seems like the MB has died down now that I finally found it. Hmmm, does that mean I ran everyone off?
