School Story

My father spent 21 years in the Navy as an aviator. My parents had purchased a cabin/house in Mi-Wuk for retirement.
I came to Summerville the middle of 1969, & with multiple moves through my fathers career, here came another school with different people.
Turns out these were the happiest days of any school I'd been to.

John was a great friend of mine moving to SUHS the middle of my sophomore year. I got to know his family, working at Kelley's Kitchen. He did tell me that he was glad when my family moved "up the hill", that he was somewhat shy & didn"t have many friends. I don't ever remember him as shy.We did off road motorcycle riding, & he was all out, as well as skiing- keep up or be left behind.  Also fortunate to have "Muscle Cars" at the same time. Hadn't seen him until the reunion & he mentioned his illness. We made plans for an informal lunch &  he drove down ( in a RED Porsche GT4- that was to be his hobby) from the Sonora/Columbia & we visited for several hours. Medically he had already been through more than enough & was "going to beat it". My last contact was when I called him  & he just had a lot of work to clear up, that he would call me when free. I am so deeply hurt by losing my friend. To Pam who has been with him "forever", & to his two girls (who I haven't met) but talked about, & was very proud of them. Again, I'm sorry for the family, friends, but also for losing a Friend.
