Richard "Wayne" Schaefer, 73, of Tyler passed away on August 30, 2018. Wayne was born in Tyler on July 1, 1945 to Ruth and Richard Schaefer. Growing up in Tyler Wayne attended John Tyler High School, TJC and SFA. After attending SFA Wayne met and married Ouida Miles on August 16, 1969 and spent the next 49 years together raising 2 daughters. Wayne worked for IBEW as a journeyman electrician for over 45 years. As a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother what he enjoyed most after retirement was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Ouida, daughters; Kristin and her husband Jason Pearce of Keller Texas, Neely and her husband Ty Bland of Temple Texas, brother Ken Schaefer of Tyler Texas and grandchildren; Audrey, Natalie and Caroline Pearce, Addison, Jaxon and Raegan Bland and a large extended family and friends. Celebration of life will take place on September 5, at 2pm at Rose Heights Church, with visitation beginning at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rose Heights or the COPD Foundation in Wayne's memory. Wayne was privately laid to rest at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.

Wow, Wayne! You've gone. What great memories I have of a Great Guy back in The Sixties at good old John Tyler High School. Your presence on this Earth was a Blessing. You will be missed. Such a great loss of my lifelong friend. I turned on my computer tonight, went to email, scrolled down and saw a memory from JT's web site. When I saw that Wayne had passed away I was completely floored. It will be a while for me it accept this news. Please accept my warmest condolences to all of Waynes family. Way he rest in peace!!!
