Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Kay Nicol, 70, of Tyler, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sat., April 20, 2013 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Joe Orr officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Mrs. Nicol passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Tyler. She was born Oct. 24, 1942 in Corsicana, Tx. Carolyn was a beautiful person with a big heart. She attended high school at Robert E Lee in Tyler and then graduated from Texas Women's University in Denton, TX in 1966. Following graduation, she served in the Army Special Services program in Vietnam from 1968-1969. She worked as a flight attendant for TWA for a short time after and married John Nicol in June of 1969. She was a devoted Army wife and mother to her husband and two children, Elizabeth and David. They lived at Ft Rucker AL, Ft Hood TX, and Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, retiring in 1981. From then, she worked in real estate and jewelry sales. She served as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor and eventually retired with her husband in Tyler, TX. The last years of her life were spent taking care of her parents and husband whom she is now with. Her grandchildren Ava and Ethan John were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Peacock, who was killed during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII, and mother, Pauline Buckner Waller; step-father, Herman Waller; and husband, John Nicol.
Survivors include: children, Elizabeth Nicol of New Orleans, La, and Major David Nicol and wife Shari of Pensacola, Fl; brother, Harold Waller and wife Lisa of Memphis, Tn; two grandchildren, Ava Nicol and Ethan John Nicol; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
