Carole Beaty Funeral Today
Funeral services for Carole Beaty, 17. Robert E. Lee High School senior killed in a Tyler automobile accident Wednesday March 1, 1961, were held at 10 a.m. today at Burks-Walker-Tippit chapel.
The Rev. C. Monroe King, pastor of Highland Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. John W. Fritts, pastor of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, offlciated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Miss Beaty died Wednesday night of injuries received in a two-car collision at Broadway and Shaw earlier that day.
Class schedules were changed for a large number of Miss Beaty's student friends at Lee school this morning in order that they might attend the funeral services.
Surviving are her parents, Dr. and Mrs. C. Bowden Beaty; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Bolilu of Baytown, and Mr. and Mrs. C. H, Beaty of Lockhart, a brother, Clyde Beaty; and two sisters, Margaret and Luan Beaty, all of Tyler.
Pallbearers were Wilfred Chew, Dr. C.F. List, Dr. J.G. Brown, Dr. B.K. Fleming, Paul K. Hale and S. H. McMillan.

It was on this day 51 years ago - March 1, 1961 - that Carole Beaty left us. Much too soon. Carole was a very close friend of mine. We met in Gerald Smith's Biology class in the 10th grade and became lab partners. Carole was so much fun to be around and way ahead of her time in a lot of ways. I bet she would have been a "Hippie" in the later '60's - at least for awhile. She thought "out of the box" for sure. I have remembered her so much through the years and wished that she was still here. Miss you Carole. Thanks for the memories.
