Services for Ann Harper Sweetin, 58, Normangee, formerly of Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church of 'Normangee with the Rev. Stan Hagadone officiating. Arrangements by Cozart Funeral Home, Normangee.

Mrs. Sweetin died Feb. 12 in Bryan.
She was born July 2, 1943, in El Reno, Okla.. and moved to Seagoville in 1945. In 1951 she moved to Tyler, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1961. She received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University in 1965.

She served as a summer youth ministry intern at East Dallas Christian Church, youth minister at First Christian Church of Garland and then at Britton Christian Church of Britton, Okla. She also taught in public schools and organized or directed girls' high school drill teams in Jones, Okla., Rains County, John Tyler High School in Tyler, New Chapel Hill and Alvin. She was a licensed minister of the Christian Church 
Disciples of Christ; and served as director of children's and youth education at Cypress Creek Christian Church in Spring, and as pastor of Bethel Christian Church in Athens for two years. In 1995, she was a nominee for Texas Town and Country Minister of the Year. She was preceded in death by grandson, Cameron Clanton.

 

Survivors include her husband, David Sweetin, Normangee; sons, Coby Kirkpatrick, Fort Worth. Kim Kirkpatrick and David' Sweetin, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepdaughter, Kris Clanton, Round Rock; parents, the Rev. Bruce and Alta Harper, Tyler; sisters, Mary Bruce Burt, Gig Harbor, Wash., and Kay Hagadone, Coppell; four grandchildren; and other relatives.


If desired, memorials may be made to Bruce and Alta Harper Fund for Ministerial Education  Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth.
