James Rodney Wood

MONDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1999

Services for J. Rodney Wood, 56, Lufkin, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Directors Chappel, Lufkin, with Dr. Nolan Duck officiating.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Wood died October 9, 1999 in a Lufkin hospital.  He was born March  27, 1943 in Lufkin and was a lifelong resident.  He was owner of Rodney Wood Bookkeeping & Tax Service.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Stephen F. Austin Alumni Association, Noon Lions Club, ppresident of A.C. Roadrunners Association and a charter member of Alpha Kappa Psi.

He was also past secretary/treasurer of Rodeo Association and First President of Angelina National Bank.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Pershing Wood on July 8, 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara wood, Lufkin; son, Michael Wood; Canton; daughter, Amanda Batson, Spring; mother Flo Wood, Lufkin; sister, Judy Perry, Lufkin; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Mac Carnes, Jim Williams, Pat McCann, Buddy Gibson, Duncan Cavanaugh, Jerry Moss, Arthur Beeler, Chris Batson, Dr. Kevin: Hudson and William "Dubby* Perry.

Honorary pallbearers are John Henry Brown Jr. and Tim Almand.

Family will receive friends 6:30- -8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
