Robert D. Ward, 77, of Deming, passed away Monday April 6, 2015 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ernie Vineyard officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory and inurnment will take place at a later date.

Robert was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Canistota, South Dakota, to Irma Mahanna and George Ward.
He was a manager in engineering, had been a Deming resident since 2005, and moved here from Alamogordo. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church, member of The Blue Jacket Navy Choir and sang with the Barber Shop Chorus. He was also a member of the Masons and Shriners Club.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of the family home; two sons, Gary Slayman of Las Cruces, and Michael Ward of San Diego, California; two daughters, Sharon Trampush and husband, John, of Canyon Lake, California, and Amy Slayman of Phoenix; two brothers, Dale Ward of Pico Rivera, California, and Gene Ward and wife, Marilyn, of New Brighton, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jermey) Trampush-Noe, Austin Trampush, Codi (Lauren) Swenson, Crystal Lopaparo, Alexis Rivera and Alyssa Jaramillo and two great-grandchildren, Jayce Swenson and Zaelin Trampush-Noe. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irma Ward and his brother, Dean Ward in August 2011.
