James G. Butler, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 19, 2017. He was born in Norfolk, VA on December 4, 1939, and was a 22-year Navy veteran.

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn (Kay), and children Evelyn (Lyn) Clough, James Butler, Susan Leonard, John Butler and Jennifer Schweizer. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren, and his sisters Jean B. Price and Virginia L. Peace.

Jim enjoyed gardening, model railroading, the Washington Redskins, researching history, and sharing life stories. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 12:00 noon, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23509. Reception will follow at the church.
