DENNIS GREIG

After graduation from VHS, I attended Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, Washington, obtaining a B.A. in Music Education in 1964. I also played professionally in dance bands and jazz combos throughout college and the early part of my teaching career.

My first teaching job was at Royal City, Washington, where I had the opportunity to build a music department from "scratch" as they had never had any music in the schools. It was an exciting and wonderful experience. Since Royal City was within driving distance of Central Washington State College, I was able to attend summer schools and obtain my M.A in Music Education in 1967.

In 1968, I moved to Wapato, Washington, and taught for two years before the urge to return home struck me, and I returned to my native state of Oregon. I spent the rest of my teaching career at Creswell, Oregon, providing music experiences to mostly willing students for 29 years, retiring in 1998.

Retirement has given me the opportunity to pursue my interests in construction, and I have been busy with major remodeling of my own house as well as for family and friends. In addition, Karen and I have been able to travel extensively throughout Mexico, Europe and the United States. We both have been blessed with good health and prosperity, and we feel very fortunate.
