It wasn't until after I graduated from VHS that I became friends with Gary. Gary enjoyed bowling. In fact, he was on a bowling league at Galaxy Lanes in Sarasota. That is where we "met" again. My husband and I also enjoyed the sport. We would all meet at the lanes on Wednesday nights to have "fun".

Gary was a great guy! We used to take his wheelchair before band and do wheelies with it. He though it was pretty funny. He gave us encouragement and instruction on the perfect wheelie... the guy could stay up on the back wheels forever. I knew Gary for many years and always considered him a friend. I never heard him complain about anything. I was sadden when hearing of his passing.

I have fond memories of Gary when we were in grade school in the late '50s. When we would have field trips to Myakka River State Park, Paul Taylor, Jim Curry and I would carry Gary over the rough terrain. He was a trooper and up to anything! Later in life, he found his calling -- bowling! He was great.

I went all the way from 3rd grade to graduation with Gary. Gary had the best attitude toward life. He taught me all things are possible. There was never anything or anywhere that Gary wasn't up to. He was truly a good spirit.
