Jim Simon and I went to Epiphany School together back in the early 60's. We graduated from our 8th grade class of 13 students in 1966. Although the boys and girls in our Catholic school didn't "hang out", Jim was a nice kid. He didn't seem get into too much trouble with the nuns.

I also went to Epiphany with Jim Simon...no one dared get into trouble...except for the 8th grade camping trip to Good Counsel Camp...someone threw rocks out a window of the bus and the highway patrol pulled them over. Father "C" came to our class and expressed his diappointment in all of us...and that was the weekend I missed as I fell off of Buddy Britton's bike and broke my front tooth...I don't think Jim threw any rocks...it was probably one of the girls!!!!
I also remember seeing a picture of Jim Simon catchihg a big shark off of the pier.

Jim and I were friends for many years. Our families were friends and did a lot of things together. Our dad's were very good friends... my dad was the assistant fire chief and Steve (Jims dad) was a volunteer fireman. We played on "Ole Betsy" the old firetruck for hours when hanging out at the firehouse. Jim was quite the fisherman as kids and kept doing it until his death... went to the pier with Jimmy, a bunch of other friends, beer and sleeping bags for a night of shark fishing - any excuse for pounding down a few beers - they were serious, I was drinking!

I was deeply sadden when I learned of his passing. What we have are fond memories of those that we have lost.
