Laurie Potter Thomason

 U.S. Army Master Sergeant (Retired) Laurie Potter Thomason, age 56 of Woodbridge, Virginia died August 7, 2008 at her home.
Laurie was born March 22, 1952 to the late Floyd Potter and Lois Davis Potter, formerly of Delta, AL. She served in the U.S. Army as a Radiology Administrator and retired following 22 years of honorable service.
Survivors include her husband, Russell Thomason, her mother, Lois Potter of Manassas, VA, her sister, Beverly Brown and husband, Paul Hureau of Boston, MA, her brother, Bruce Potter of Utah and a number of nieces and nephew.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Mountcastle Funeral Home in Woodbridge, VA. A graveside service with military honors and interment will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Delta Cemetery in Delta, AL.
Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville will be in charge of the local arrangements.

Thanks to Lora Nicol Lorenc who found one of our missing classmates. Laurie was with us til 11th grade. She had amazing accomplishments in the Army.

RIP Laurie you were a wonderful classmate and I have very fnd memories of some great nights at Manasota Beach.

Laurie was an Englewood kid like me. We played together in elementary school and dance school. After losing touch for many years, on our 50th birthdays we found each other and took up our friendship where we left off. We kept in contact for a few years after that. Sadly, I learned of her death when I tried to contact her regarding Nancy Czerwinski's passing.
On joining the military, Laurie told me that she "wanted to be independent." She said she wanted to retire several times, "but they kept giving me these great jobs." Finally, she was trying to get her house built, and the military called again with yet another great opportunity, and she said, "I just started crying." (laughter)
I am so proud to have known Laurie and I thank her even now for her service to our country and for our friendship.
