Ed (Eddie/Skip) Evans

Motor scooter accident in 1959 changed my plans and I had to go to college. Crazy turns of fate turned me into a physics, chemistry, earth science, and remedial science teacher for 33 years. Became a science writer and amateur inventor along the way. Got into local politics (Rochester area) along the way. Retired from teaching in 1997. Still do science consulting work.

A few of us were involved in building rockets and firing them off behind the school. (We'd call them pipe bombs today.) We almost hit the school barn/classroom one day while classes were going on inside! Then Bill Lounsbury and I accidently exploded a test rocket inside the school. We nearly killed ourselves but we stuffed a humorous note into a hole we had blown in the wall. In 1985, on a tour of the school, my wife and I found that note. The hole had a cabinet in front of it and the note was a little rotted from chemical fumes, but I was able to bring it home.
