Elgie Drummond Anken, 66, of Spring Road, Verona, died Thursday March 26, 2015 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, with her family by her side. She was born February 17, 1949 in Rome, NY the daughter of James C. and Irene Palmer Drummond. She graduated from Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School in 1968. On November 2, 1968 she married Walter J. Anken in the New London United Methodist Church, he died August 17, 2013 She worked at Oneida-Madison BOCES for over 25 years. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Rome.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Donna L. Anken, Savannah, Georgia and William J. Anken, Manlius, NY, one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Howard Smith, Verona; and one brother and sister-in-law, L. James and Rae Ellen Drummond, Dublin, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held 7p.m. Tuesday at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court St., Rome. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Home for Funerals Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
