VERONA - Jerome "Jerry" A. Jackson, 61, of Verona, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in the Rome Nursing Home.
He was a son of Jerome and Ruby Stone Jackson. Jerry received his education at VVS, MVCC and the Dallas Theological Seminary. On July 9, 1977, he married Janice C. Barrett.
Jerry served as the Pastor at the Lowell United Methodist Church and the Earlville Baptist Church until ill health forced his retirement. He was also a car salesman for Navelli Motors. Jerry was a member of the Oneida Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Phillip Phelps of Florida; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alanson (Lanny) and Dorothy Jackson of Verona and Lyle and Linda Jackson of Rome; a son, Jerry Jackson of Camden and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Rome Nursing Home and Bethany Gardens for the excellent care and compassion shown to Jerry during his illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St., Rome. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place in Grove Cemetery, Verona.
