Ok, so what have I been doing for the last 20 years. Well, a lot! Let me see, where do I start? After High School, I attended Delta State and then switched to USM and graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1992. I moved back to Vicksburg for about a year, then moved to Atlanta, Ga, which is where I lived up until recently. I married a great guy in 2000, but unfortunately, we divorced in 2006. During the divorce, I moved back to Vicksburg "temporarily"... well, it became permanent. Since I travel so much with my company, I get the best of both worlds... time in New York and time at home with my family. I chose not to have children, therefore I spend as much time with my nieces and nephew that I can.
As for my career, in 2001, I created a company called www.curvychick.com and then in 2003, created an online magazine called Bombshell. In 2007, I launched another site called www.ShopBombshellMagazine. If you are reading this, you are probably wondering "huh"... where did the inspiration for these companies come from? Well, truth be known, after High School and College, I started to "change"... gain weight that is. I guess I was making up for all those years in High School when I wasn't consuming anything hence the thinness.
Well, long, long story short, I was about 30 years old when I started settling into this person I have become and found very quickly that fashion designers do not cater to a certain segment of the marketplace... this segment is commonly referred to as the "plus size" industry. What is most interesting about this segment, is that it is the majority of women... size 12, 14, 16. In any case, I created an online community to send a message to designers and the media about how this consumer was being ignored and well, one thing lead to another and now I own the largest online community that caters to this market and have the only online magazine/shopping site as well.
To get a better understanding of these companies, I invite you all to visit www.shopbombshellmagazine.com and www.curvychick.com.
That is all for now. I hope to see you all at the reunion... it will be fun catching up!
Take care and much love,
Candi
