It would be absolutely impossible to find a date that works for everyone. But, I will throw mine out there just in case. July 25th, August 15th and August 22nd work best for me as far as late in the summer. Just a thought, but would a May or September weekend be better since people's summers fill up so quickly? I suppose that everyone is busy with their kids school schedules then though. I'm hoping to make it back this time! It would be great to see everyone.

I think the Ladora Fun Days sound great!

I think May wouldn't give us enough time to contact the people that don't have email.

I agree with Connie. We will never find a date that works for everyone. I can make August 18 or 22 work. If we go with August 22, we can help Stef celebrate her birthday on the 23rd. :) Once we get into September, we'll be knee deep in football games. Since it will be Tyler's senior season, I won't want to miss a minute of the action.

Gary and I would be open to any of the ideas and most weekends (at least at this point) are open for us. This is the first summer that we don't have baseball to be at every night of the week (and I'm going to miss it). The only weekend that doesn't work for us is the first weekend of August. I like the Ladora fun days idea in case people do want to involve their kids.

I agree it is going to be hard to make it work for everyone, but if we can get the majority, it would be great.

Forgot, I have a weekend in July that is busy due to Iowa County Fair. Unless of course everyone would be willing to come to Marengo and help wash up some cattle for show.

Sounds like there are some good suggestions out there! We are open to any ideas. The only suggestion I have is to go ahead a pick a date so people can at least save the weekend! :) Could you combine the hotel and Ladora weekend in one? Closest hotels would be at Williamsburg? Just a thought!

Thanks for all the hard work with the website! This is a great tool for getting info to everyone!

Kris--I don't think I will be able to help wash cattle at the county fair--thanks for asking! :)

Another lodging option: Sleep Inn at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 21. My husband and I recently stayed there while attending my brother-in-law's 50th birthday party. It was not fancy, but it was clean.

You also have the Sudbury in Marengo to stay at and they are very inexpensive and clean- that is where most of us stayed for my brother's wedding. Is the Ladora Winery able to do any type of a catered dinner for the reunion? They certainly have the room there and it would be close . If it were the same day as the rest of the activities there it would be a nice break from the crowds before the street dance.

You can reserve the Bank for parties, but I don't think they would do it on this day, and they don't cater. It's just 2 of them that runs the place, and they aren't equipped to do catering for large parties.

I've heard rumors about a 5K Run/Walk being done as part of the Ladora Days celebration. Would anyone be interested in doing this and if so, would we want class T-shirts?

Julie Gerard (Weiss)

Kris--I would be interested in doing the walk if they are having one. Let me know if you hear anything! :)

Ladora will not be doing the 5k walk/run this year :(

Thanks for letting me know about the 5K! Yeah-now I can sleep in! HA! :)

Just curious if people are bringing their kids to the Ladora Days? Trying to figure out if I need to set up something with the grandparents or bring them along.

We're not bringing our kids, although we might not make it for much of Ladora Days anyway. I'm hoping to check out the winery.

I am not sure if we are taking our kids to Ladora either.

What time are people heading over to Ladora in the afternoon?

Also, are we eating at Carnforth at 6:00? or will we have a social hour before the meal?

Hey, social hour! Great idea Julie ... I assume we'll be starting that with the beer tent (and winery) in Ladora. Hopefully we can carry that over for at least half of the Carnforth time.

We aren't bringing our kids due to two-a-day football practice. Besides, they think they're too cool to hang out with us anyway. ha! We plan to arrive in Ladora around 3:00. I can't wait to see everyone!

Connie Tanner (Tanner-Smith)

Wow, sounds like I will be missing a lot of the fun as we won't be there until later due to a soccer tourney in Waukee that afternoon. Hopefully most of you still plan on heading back to Ladora after the meal! May still bring the kids...

Connie--sure hope you guys can make it! We are planning to head back to Ladora after Carnforth!

Our kids are going to Rod's mom's for the night! :)

See you Saturday!

We are definitely heading back to Ladora after dinner. I'm so excited that so many classmates are going to be there. Its been several reunions since we've had this big of a turn out.

Really great to see everybody. I wonder if we can develop some kind of picture repository (where people can download) from the event? I didnt have my camera, but I know lots of pictures were being taken.

Paula Coghlan (Doran)

Great idea Bob. I didn't have my camera either and would love to get some of the pictures also. It was definitely great to see everybody.

Doesnt look like this site allows for picture downloads. I guess we could go to a photo sharing site like Picasa or Flickr. These work well since you can either download pictures or send them out for printing. What does the webmaster (LeAnn) think?

08/19/09 08:02 AM #28

LeAnn Bringmann (Meeks)

Unfortuntely, only I can post pictures. If you want to send me any of your pictures, I can post, or as Bob suggested, Flickr.com is a great resource, then you can send the link. You can also download your pictures to Facebook. We have a group page created there as well (see the announcement on the Home Page).

Great to see everyone!
