Oh what wonderful memories I have of Joe.   Double dated so many times.  I cannot believe he is no longer with us.  What a wonderful, handsome, friendly person.

I will always remember Joe as a "gentle spirit" with brains! I treasure his teaching me how to play the game of chess well enough to beat my husband and son for a couple of years and the last time that I saw Joe was in 1983 up in Huntsville at a violin summer camp that my nephew and his daughter were taking....the last thing that I said to him was to thank him for teaching me how to play the game.

I bumped into him at a scientific meeting many years ago and it was fun catching up.  He was a very bright guy and it is sad not to have him still with us.

Joe's dad Leon married my husband Bob's mother Elizabeth over 38 years ago when both were widowed.  So, Joe was "family" for along time.  Sweet, funny, smart guy we lost to cancer.  He was a professor at A & M, studied wildlife all his life, and spent a year in Tanzania with his wife Jan and their young daughter Stephanie.  Wish he could be here to celebrate 50 years with us.
