Mildred was my twin! My mother and Mrs. Locksteadt were in Victoria Hospital at the same time and gave birth to us within minutes. Mom and her mom were friends in school, and so Mildred and I became friends through Sunday School and school. Her dad was our Sunday School teacher, and we were always together in class and Luther League. In later years, she and I both became Catholics and attended the same church. It seems we were always together through family, school and church. Her death last year made me realize how fragile life is and how blessed I am to still be here.
