Carla- I did NOT go to the first grade with you. And as I remember you refused to sit on the fender of my tractor so YOU turned me down for the date.

Well I see you guys are up and at'em again this morning. I can't believe my Duddy Balls story bombed so badly. I told those stories for 30 years to my nephews and always had to have an encore ready. Wow, I have a younger sister; now that is news. I guess Frank Casson (he was pres. of Oklahoma State Bank when they were still on Main St) was right when he told my Dad that to reach the people you must keep your plea on the 4th grade level. Foretunately, I have a good story from 4th grade, Will Rogers Elem. This is the Silly Putty story. It also end with a bang, but of a different kind. Unfortunately, it does not include Bill or Chuck. Ahh, forget it! I gotta tee time.

CARLA,
I WOULDN'T DOUBT IF HE WAS YOUR OBSCENE PHONE CALLER! HE WAS PRETTY WEIRD. I HATE TO THINK OF HIM GETTING ON THIS SITE. BUT I DIDN'T SEE HIM IN THE PICTURES OF PAST REUNIONS. I KNOW I DON'T WANT TO RUN INTO HIM AGAIN. HE WAS CREEPY!!!!

To all- I am not weird or creepy. Perverted, ...maybe.

Steve-If you converted to Baptist that would take care of the preverted part! All these years I thought you were an all around, good ole country boy. Man it took 40 years...but the skeletons are coming out of the closet! I think it is good that we are all cleansing our souls and getting these things told before we are so old and forgetful we can't remember any of these great stories or each other! Bruce keep those stories coming! I am laughing till my sides hurt and tears are rolling down my face! ( I started to say cheeks...but since Steve is preverted I did not want to use that term!)

CARLA- YES, I AM GETTING TO KNOW STEVE BETTER TOO, SINCE HE'S BEEN ON THIS FORUM. BESIDES BEING GOOD LOOKING HE DOES HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR. AND CAN BE NICE TO US WOMEN WHEN HE WANTS TO.

Carla- That was my Dad that caught your obscene caller on the pay phone at Carter's Shopping Center. Of course, he was privy to all the details, since that was just part of his job in the central office. He had been to Carter's to buy some pipe tobacco and just happened to be walking by the pay phone, when he caught the kid in the act on the phone.

Well, I will be back in awhile, I have to go to the barn and unsaddle my horse. This is as good as a tee time!

Judy- What 'act'? No, I don't want to know.

Riding horses was one thing I never figured out. My friends from town would want to come out to my house and ride horses. Usually when we would saddle up a horse it was to rope a sick cow and doctor it, or pull the tractor to get it started. In other words it involved work. I would ask them "Why would you want to ride a horse if you don't have to?" However my older brother, Russell, and I used to do a little rodeoing. We team roped. We had a little arena out at our house and would host jackpots on Wednesday nites. One Sunday in Lenapah, we were at a little rodeo and I had a little accident. For those of you that don't know anything about dally team roping, one person would rope the horns of the steer and the other would rope it's hind legs. Your rope was free, after roping either the head or heels, you would wrap the free end of the rope around the saddle horn. Sometimes you would get parts of your fingers or hand trapped between the saddle horn and the rope. When the steer hit the end of the rope it would tighten up and squeeze off anything that was caught up between the saddle horn and the rope. Well, I roped the horns and dallied. Sure enough I got hung up. A lot of things went thru my mind in a very short period of time. I thought if I leave my hand in, we could possibly win some money. We had each paid $12 entry fee. But I would probably lose a finger or something. If I just let go then we lose that $12. Long story short we won $36, total not apiece, and I did not lose a finger. We had a long talk on the way home. Russell had been accepted to Medical school and figured that he needed both hands and all 10 fingers. We both knew we were not destined to be on the pro rodeo circuit, so that was the very last time we roped competitively.

You all know by now that I'm not a very smart guy. It took me 13 years to get a 4 year degree. However, the Webster's Dictionary people approached me after my graduation. If you look in a Webster's dictionary under 'slow learner' you will see a picture of me in my cap and gown.

Mary Ann- Did you have a happy Birthday?

Bruce- What did you shoot?

I HAVE A STORY: I READ SPIRITUAL ROMANCE NOVELS, AND ONE WAS ABOUT RODEOS AND COWBOYS. THE MAIN CHARACTER WAS A BUCKING BRONC RIDER AND HE MENTIONED HE WAS RIDING IN A RODEO IN VINITA, OKLA. IT WAS REALLY NEAT TO SEE OUR HOME TOWN MENTIONED IN A NATIONALLY PUBLISHED BOOK.

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

Lavanna-I think everyone has tee times! The weather has been nice here in Texas! I would love to know the name of that book. My daddy comes from a Rodeo family. My godfather was Jim Shoulders. My dad won the World Champion Bull Riding title in 1946 or 1947. He rodeoed until I was born in 1950. He rodeoed with Larry Bill's dad. In fact the first boy who kissed me was Larry Bill. It was at my 2nd Birthday Party! We also took baths together! Our parents were good friends. We were babies!!! I have some pictures of us when we were little in my dad's things. If you write that book I will give you some stories for it.

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

CARLA- I'LL GET BACK TO YOU ABOUT THE TITLE, IT WAS A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO WHEN I READ IT, SO I'LL HAVE TO SEARCH THROUGH ALL MY BOOKS. BUT I'LL LOOK FOR IT. AS FAR AS WRITING THE BOOK, I DON'T HAVE A PRINTER SO I CAN'T WRITE ONE, BUT THE STORIES WOULD SURE MAKE A GOOD BOOK. I USED TO GO TO THE WILL ROGERS RODEO EVERY YEAR WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL WITH MY DAD. THAT WAS THE ONLY FUN THING I WAS ALLOWED TO DO AND I'VE NEVER FORGOTTEN IT.

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

CARLA- WELL I'VE LOOKED THROUGH MY BOOKS AND I'VE NARROWED IT DOWN BETWEEN TWO ABOUT RODEOS. I LOOKED THROUGH ONE BUT DIDN'T FIND IT THERE SO I'LL LOOK THROUGH THE OTHER. I KNOW I AM NOT IMAGINING THINGS I KNOW VINITA WAS MENTIONED. I'LL FIND IT. THE SEARCH CONTINUES......

Steve I have just put in a 12 plus hours and need to eat, but I didn't want to leave the "pot of beans" floating around. It's a portuguese word that sounds like "pot of beans" and means Happy Birthday. The well wisher was raised in Portugal. I had a good birthday and I am now officially fffffffffifty eight! It's ok, I can't tell any difference yet. I will catch up with you guys this weekend. OH! Guess what - I just found out I'm going to be a grandma of twins! I'm so excited, the mom is in shock! Have a good one!
