Hey folks, I've got a memory question for you:

When we were in high school at the new building, where did everyone go for lunch? I know it's a strange question, but I was thinking about the building and remembered that it did not have a cafeteria like the grade schools did.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Paul- Good to hear from you. Are your folks still around? Didn't they both work for the phone company?

Lavanna- Icicles and thongs??? I don't think I want to go there with you.

Carla- I'm so glad that you did not get washed away in all the rain up here this last weekend.

Johnnie- Bruce and I made it all the way to Las Vegas in Bruce's $40,000 car to look for you. We returned home the next day in a $400,000 Greyhound Bus. If you need financial help getting to the reunion, I can cash in my 401K (Net worth as of today $41.23) to help with your expenses. I will need to know ASAP so I can sell my shares of Enron. Let me know.

Rhea- I envision diamonds in the 'rough'.

Tooter- I can deliver a cup of coffee off a 'side boom', 'with no load' to you on the ground, without spilling a drop.

Mary Ann- How are you coming on the book? Ready to convert?

Paul- The high school students could eat at the cafeteria at Will Rogers -or- The Hornet's Nest hamburger joint on the east side of the street from the school parking lot -or- go up town if you had a car or a ride -or- go home.

I usually brought my lunch from home. In the 9th and 10th grade I walked to the phone office and ate lunch with my Dad. My junior and senior year, I usually walked home with Cheryl Langston or rode home with Phyllis Fry and ate my lunch with them.

Hey folks,

I'm planning on coming out for the reunion in July. Since it's been a while since I've been back, I need recommendations on where to stay. I checked the rates at the Holiday Inn Express and it's more expensive than some of the 4 star hotels in Las Vegas. What other places can you guys recommend?

05/08/09 02:23 PM #603

Judith Ann Postier

Paul- I will check with the Holiday and see if they will cut us a deal for Reunion attendees.

Also, Look on the left side of the home page and click on Motel/Hotel Reserv, there are some others listed in the area.

I saw them, but I have no idea what they are like. I did look at the Super8 and it had a couple of negative reviews from previous guests that made me wonder about it. Thanks for your help.

You know Paul the first of the week Dick and I went to Great Falls and stayed in a Days Inn, it sure looked nice and was...until the next morning when I saw the ants devouring a chip I had dropped. But they were so sorry,(the people not the ants) no compensation, just sorry. So maybe if you don't eat in the room, keep you shades drawn and sunglasses on or eyes closed you'll be fine. Besides you won't be spending that much time in there anyway.
Hey group, I'll ask daddy for the car on Sat. night maybe we can "drag main" Remember I squeezed 20 something in the old Fairlane, he has a suburban now. Wow!
Carla I did worry about you and the swine flu, remember they keep telling US that the elderly need to be cautious. Can you believe we are falling into that category. Or maybe we already fell. We will need to commiserate with each other over a toddy or two about our declining years. Johnnie don't say never, Obama might have some money available for reunion travels.

Thanks Jan, that was real encouraging....one of the reviewers for the Super8 said they lifted the phone and found roaches (BIG UGGGHHH).

I'm was told to check with the person in charge at the Holiday Express on Saturday concerning a reunion rate. So I will let you know something, as soon as I find out.

Paul, thanks a million for the offer. I think Johnnie is able to do that, and he has all of the yearbooks. I can also perform that task, I just haven't done it yet. I have been concentrating on getting everyone signed up.

Check out this article in today's San Francisco Chronicle about prom outfits and see if it brings back any memories:

Paul- And to think we were even before the 70's. By the way, you need to check with Bruce about staying out in Judy's barn. She may be able to 'cut' you a deal.

Bruce- Please assure Ana that she will be 'snug as a bug' with us.

Carla- We were down in Dallas this weekend at the 'Tut' exhibit. I thought I might see you draggin Main down there. Do you and Bill ever eat at that little Mexican restaurant just off the old Main Street of Grapevine? They have 'killer' margaritas.

Mary Ann- Where are you???

Jan- Maybe while the guys are playing golf, you girls could have a 'nut cuttin' contest. It would be cheaper for me than a day of shopping.

Johnnie- What a good looking daughter. She must be adopted. I've already given my granddaughter both my credit cards and checkbook, and she can't even write yet.

Paul Ray Wever

Steve,

We were on the cusp of the '70s and the stuff we wore back then was just as awful. As to staying in a barn, by the looks of some of the motels in Vinita, it might be a step up....;) By the way, when did you take up golf? I don't remember you playing in high school. The only thing I understand about the game is the do over.....

05/10/09 08:53 PM #613

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

JOHNNIE, NICE PIC OF YOUR DAUGHTER SHE SURE LOOKS LIKE SHE'S GOT DADDY WRAPPED AROUND HER LITTLE FINGER. YOU OLD SOFTY....LOL

05/10/09 09:41 PM #614

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Paul- I took up golf in college. The technical term for a 'do-over' in golf is called a 'mulligan'. I take several of those each round. It REALLY helps my score. I have lived in several different places all over the world temporarily but Oklahoma has always been my 'home'.

05/10/09 10:21 PM #615

Paul Ray Wever

Steve - Just think of the possibilities if there had been mulligans when you were playing football in high school.....;)

My feeling about home is almost the opposite. Home is wherever I happen to be living. Moving back to Oklahoma hasn't ever been a consideration.

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

Steve, shopping in Vinita can't possibly set anyone back. There isn't anyplace to shop, except Wal-Mart. When I went home and there wasn't Vanity Fair, I was heartsick. What a great store and Leland and Freddie the best people. So the way I see it we will need to drink heavily while we are in the "nut cuttin" contest. Works for me..
Great picture of you, Judy and your god-daughter.

05/10/09 10:31 PM #617

Paul Ray Wever

I remember when growing up, if the folks wanted to do some serious shopping, we'd all pile in the car and head to Tulsa. And that was WAY before Walmarts came along.

05/10/09 11:10 PM #618

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Jan- I'm sure I can talk Susan into that if it involves 'heavy drinkin'. I'll even spring for a new 'Case Pocketknife' for the competition.

Paul- Mulligans in football would have been great.
