Judy - Do you have addresses for Lynnda and Barry? I would like to send sympathy cards. Rhea

All golfers and golfing spouses- Here are some 'golf terms' I'll be using in my next self-help golf book.

A 'Rock Hudson ' - a putt that looked straight, but wasn't

A 'Saddam Hussein' - from one bunker into another

A 'Yasser Arafat' - butt ugly and in the sand

A 'John Kennedy Jr.' - didn't quite make it over the water

A 'Rodney King' - over-clubbed

An 'O.J.'- got away with one

A Princess Grace' - should have used a driver

A 'Princess Di' - shouldn't have used the driver

A 'Condom' - safe, but didn't feel very good

A 'Brazilian' - shaved the hole

A 'Rush Limbaugh' - Way to the right but still in bounds

A 'Nancy Pelosi' - Way to the left and out of bounds

A 'James Joyce' - a putt that's impossible to read

A 'Ted Kennedy' - goes in the water and jumps out

A 'Pee Wee Herman' - too much wrist

A 'Sonny Bono' - straight into the trees

A 'Mickey Mantle' - a dead yank

A ' Paris Hilton' - a very expensive hole

I know all of you are looking forward to seeing it in your bookstores soon, so I will be working very hard to getting it there ASAP.

I haven't left the planet (yet)- I've just been without a computer for more than a week, due to remodeling things going on. I'm leaving for a short trip for a few days, so don't tell anything on me while I'm gone.
Carla- I sure thought I knew it all when I was in high school, which gives me more grace towards teens now.
Judy- I remember that pulling tabs (fruit loops) off guy's shirts was the thing to do, but I was too scared to. I didn't want anyone's mom calling Nadine. Early on, I wrote about throwing a muddy snowball at Eddy - his mom talked to me about that. She was very nice, but firm
(rightfully so). That did it for me - I never did throw muddy snowballs at anyone again (although when I'm under stress, it is still extremely tempting).
Steve - I remember Mary Hartman and also Laugh In. When people didn't have tv's in their dorm rooms - we went to the common lounge. Laugh In nights were always crowded. That program was such a statement of our times. To think that Goldie H. started her career there.

I' never forget the time I went to the common room to watch tv and one of the guys on the floor (who was going to become a hippy) was watching tv and holding a burning incense stick. At that time I was so innocent it kind of weirded me out.

ISN'T IT FUNNY WHEN YOU MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE IN THE U.S. THAT PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE SAME SAYINGS YOU HAD WHERE YOU GREW UP? SUCH AS, WE ALL KNOW "LICKING YOUR CALF OVER AGAIN." HERE IN N.Y. THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING, AND IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO THESE YANKEES. ALSO, INSTEAD OF NEW YORKERS CALLING HAMBURGER MEAT HAMBURGER, THEY CALL IT "HAMBURG." ARE THEY JUST LAZY AND CAN'T FINISH THE WORD OR WHAT? I MAY BE LIVING IN N.Y. RIGHT NOW BUT I AM AN OKIE THROUGH AND THROUGH. OH YES, AND INSTEAD OF SAYING DRAWER LIKE A DRESSER DRAWER THEY CALL IT A DRAAAAAAAAW! ANY COMMENTS!

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Lavanna- Do you get 'Non Sequitur' in your funny papers? They talk exactly like you described.

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

STEVE- I WOULDN'T KNOW, I HAVEN'T READ THE FUNNY PAPERS IN YEARS, IT'S FUNNY ENOUGH JUST LISTENING TO THE FOLKS TALK AROUND HERE.

Remember Mrs. Turtlelotte. She had the story about her brother moving to Atlanta (or somewhere in the South) and he couldn't understand that when people said that were "tared" that they meant "tired".

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

Heck, I called Judy the other day, and she told me she was tarred. Come to think of it, so am I.....

Ya oughta hear what some of these folks call gums (in your mouth) and film. fill-em.

Have you guys read Wayne's story? It is so funny. I wonder why we never heard about life of crime those two led?

Had shorts on all week, fought mosquitoes yesterday out in the yard, 80% chance of rain/snow mix tonight and tomorrow. If it kills the skitters I hope it freezes.. Love MT weather.

Heartsworth House???? Isn't that a rest home? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

06/08/09 12:45 PM #711

Paul Ray Wever

So it's a glorified rest home... a few of us would fit right in...;)

All- Let's talk about Mary Ann while she is away!!!

06/10/09 09:42 PM #717

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

STEVE- LIKE YOU TALKED ABOUT ME WHEN I WAS AWAY?????
I'M STILL THINKING ABOUT JOTTING DOWN ALL THESE TALES BUT THERE ARE SO MANY NOW THAT I THINK IT WOULD JUST BE TOO MUCH WORK TO COMPILE THEM INTO A BOOK.

06/11/09 10:58 PM #718

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Steve - don't even think about it! Congradulations on the anniversary!
I'm almost done with the house and will show it to an interested party next week! Yeah!
About the way some people talk. My daughter's mother-in-law from Montana says "sorry" and it sounds like, "sorey". Actually, Southerner's have 2 vowels for every one of ours. And North Easterner's can't say "r". But President Kennedy used to call Cuba, "Cuber" - so go figure. I'm certainly glad I don't have an accent!
I entertained the whole workforce in a small hotel in Washinton DC, when I was 15 yrs. old. My mother took me (by train - a very slow train) to D.C. The staff at the desk would engage me in conversation and I thought they just liked me. Later I found out it was my "accent". One worker asked me if all girls in Oklahoma were as tall as I was. President Johnson, with his tall Texas daughters, was in office at the time. I guess the staff assumed that height was in the water west of the Mississippi.
Lavanna- When my sister lived in New York, she said people didn't go for a "coke", but rather a "soda". Then she moved to the South where people offered to "take and carry you" (give you a ride in their car). I've yet to have anyone offer to take and carry me.
Jan - What is a "ditch" in Montana? I think I remember my son-in-law calling it a strange name (it doesn't start with a "b".
Carla - So you are free from work now? I bet you don't have to go back as early as we do here - the first part of August!
