Bruce- Have you got your 'monologue' prepared for your 'Master of Ceremonies' role?

Bruce Evans

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...no

Johnny Leon Morgan

Jay Fimple,

Climbing down the water tower and the cop's light hit him about the last rung. He jumped off and of course I had to drag him into the weeds to hide him. He was moaning so bad. That is how his arches got knocked down.

OR the night at teen town when he fell off of teen town and got ............... save for later

OR the night he snuck out...........

OR the night we bushed whack Jack Holt

OR the night he dropped his cigar in the back of my station wagon on the 4th of July into a pile of fire crakers and of course he open the back door and bailed out while we were going about 30 mph.

OR the time he was praying that someone would get hurt in basketball so he would get a suit. He took Tubby out in practice and thought he would be suiting up but Tubby survived.

OR graduation night when he borrowed a canoe from a locked in 10 ft. fence storage area.

OR have to admit this one, I was driving going down main street when the budweiser truck stopped at the light. He leaned out the window, pulled up the sliding door and stole a case of beer. He did this twice as Vinita only had two lights at that time. He wanted to follow that truck to the next town. I said I think we are ahead.

OR at my bachler party and he was only suppose to be gone a couple of hours and we drove him to his mother-in-law house the next morning. Jan hollered at him all the way from the car and even after she shut the door.

There are several more that a lot of you have experience with Jay. Just think it would be fun to talk about them. I know several the first year at OSU when he had I think a .5 GPA. but bet some of you know even funnier stuff on Jay. What about the Lucky 7 club and Jay?

I knew it, Morgan is a sandbagger. Hey Johnny think you could help me with that "monologue", like give it. Or, maybe Miller could help. With your combined coaching experience you guys should be able to fill out the evening.

Bruce, you will do fine just stay positive and funny without cutting anyone down. The best get togethers I have been to were not roasts.

I think our class was the most successful of any group. Sometimes we forget but people like Mr. Sooter, Mr. Faulkner, Tom Combs, George Blevins, Mr. Rauch, and yes even Mrs. Tyler (I was scared to death of her, even after I was teaching I ran into her and remember saying...Yes, Mrs. Tyler. didn't know it but she was short, always thought she was about 7 foot) had great influences on us.

It would be interesting to have an email poll to see who influence what classmate the most.

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

JOHNNY- MRS. TYLER INFLUENCED ME THE MOST I WAS SCARED TO DEATH OF HER ALSO.SHE DID TEACH ME ONE THING THOUGH I COULD MAKE GOOD GRADES IF I APPLIED MYSELF WELL.I WAS LAZY I ALWAYS MADE BAD GRADES IN ENGLISH ESPECIALLY HER CLASS. EVERYTIME THERE WAS A TEST I EITHER FAILED IT OR ALMOST FAILED. I WAS TIRED OF HER ALWAYS CRITIZING ME THOUGH AND ONE DAY I DECIDED I WAS GOING TO PROVE TO HER THAT I COULD MAKE A GOOD GRADE ON A TEST. I STUDIED REALLY HARD FOR THE TEST AND WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR THE TEST I MADE A 92. SHE COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, I COULDN'T EITHER AND THEN SHE ACCUSES ME OF CHEATING AFTER ALL THAT HARD WORK BUT I DIDN'T CARE I WAS PROUD OF MYSELF FOR DOING IT.
MRS. DUKE WAS ANOTHER TEACHER WHO IMPRESSED ME SHE CARED ABOUT US ALL THAT EVERY YEAR SHE MOVED UP WITH US EXCEPT SHE COULDN'T IN THE SENIOR YEAR. I REALLY ENJOYED DOING PLAYS WITN HER BEING THE DIRECTOR I THINK I WAS ONLY IN ONE BUT IT WAS FUN. TO THIS DAY IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME TO BE IN FRONT OF A CROWD OF PEOPLE AND SPEAK. I THINK MRS DUKE AND HER SUPPORT HAD ALOT TO DO WITH THAT.

Ladies ~ I understand that some of the Gentlemen Golfers of the fine class of '69 are planning a little golf outing for Saturday... Carla, I know you were thinking of shopping and Rhea you said you were 'in' for shopping...I have looked on the Vinita website, and it seems that there are tours of the Summerside Vineyards, and there is a bistro there that serves lunch. I 'found' several antique stores and an antique 'market' on the website as well... I am just wondering if we could get a group of ladies together for lunch at the vineyard and shopping on Saturday???? Judy, you are the local subject matter expert...is the Bistro a good place for lunch? Other ideas? I realize many of you will have family you need to visit with on Saturday ~ but for those of us that will be 'on the loose' ... I thought we could organize some 'girl fun'.
Who's up for some wine and shopping ??????????

Mary Ann- I can't wait to hear the 'crawdad' fishing story.

07/20/09 02:06 PM #802

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Ok guys - My feelings were hurt - I thought no one cared about my crawdad excursion. Then I figured out, on my computer at least - that I had to scroll down about 3 feet to get the next response - so you're all forgiven! Since I didn't think that anyone responded, I found three 10 year old boys and interviewed them. They were having success with bacon tied on a string on a stick.
So, we started with 2 four year olds, a three year old and one daughter, pregnant with twins. Four year old Joel, was sure we needed to take a shotgun to hunt the crawdads, I thought the bacon would be enough - but they each took their personal arsenals - a pop gun, a lime green plastic machine gun and some type of camo gun. We hunted for sticks and talked to some professionals at the park, as to where the best "fishing" was.
It turns out that boys this young find it difficult to be still long enough to catch anything - but they did have quite a time romping through the park, protecting grandma and aunt Stacie from numerous wild and ferocious animals - tigers etc. Pregnant Stacie waded out over a rock bridge and moss covered rocks (to my dismay) and reeled in the only catch of the day - which has had to stay at 3 different houses. It would have been so much easier to have caught 3 crawdads. I really did try, but those little buggers are fast! I was prepared though, I had a bucket, string and a pair of needle pliers for removal. It runs out though, if 2 women scream loudly enough, when a crawdad is being pulled out, while attached to bacon - it will let go (without use of pliers).
Carla - I have never fished in my life, but that might be easier next time. Crawdads just don't have a pleasing outer appearance or color. I was visiting in the south one time and was invited to attend a "low boil" ( I think that's what they called it). All kinds of seafood and other stuff was boiled in a pot and then poured out on huge sheet of butcher paper and we served ourselves. It was delicious. This was prepared by the same southerners who offer to "take and carry" a person somewhere - even me!
Johnny - I never knew any of those stories about Jay - you will need to share.
Jan will probably drive about 92 hours to get here - so be nice to her this weekend.
Steve - I read the note from your wife about shopping and didn't know why you cared so much about the girls afternoon, until I saw your wife's signature. I was a little worried for a while.
Carla and Lavonne - I really like antique shopping also. I didn't have room for many of the things from my mom's house. I do get bothered when toys from MY childhood are considered antiques though.

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

WE're busy getting ready to leave in the A:M: (that still stands for before noon, doesn't it) Not sure if we'll swing by Cheyenne and take in a perf (rodeo-what else) or head straight for home. I believe I have packed everything I own cause I never know what I'm going to feel like wearing. Dick no longer says anything about the size of my suitcase, smart Dick. OK leave that alone. Anyway I'm anxious to see everyone who comes and will miss everyone who didn't. See ya Friday. Bring pictures of yourselves, kids, dogs whatever so we get an idea of what you're about now. Jan

Jan- I can't wait to meet 'Big Dick' and 'COMPARE' notes.
Mary Ann- Glad things went well on the 'Big Hunt' and that no one was wounded.
Lavanna- We all will miss you. I promise to send pictures.

Mary Ann,

You have never been to New Orleans and eaten. They throw about every thing in a pot (Gumbo). I loved the boiled scrimp there and crawfish were not to bad with the red sauce they made.

We are heading to Las Vegas and will not get back til Friday night but will be at the Home of Hope get together Sat. night.

If any of you get the chance go past the football field and look to the right. I was the chairperson who helped build the softball/baseball complex with its 1800 square foot concession stand-meeting room. All air condition.... The reason I was so involved was it was named after my brother Bill who passed away with lung cancer in 1994. Anyway if you get the chance go look at it.

Johnny

THANKS STEVE, I'LL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL THE PICTURES

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

Steve you will like Dick, he's a really great guy obviously, we're still married. He doesn't golf and rodeo is his passion, but he has lots of stories about flying, hunting elk, Mt winters and surviving me.
Johnny, I'm sorry about your brother, but I'm sure you've made him proud with the tribute in his honor.
Mary Ann, I'm afraid to tell you it's long sleeve weather right now. But when it's winter in OK, remember what winter in Mt. is like. It all evens out.

Mary Ann , I just thought Steve was getting in touch with his feminine side; I didn't read all the way to the salutation. See ya in Ironside.

07/21/09 03:45 PM #810

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Bruce - Yes, I was a little worried about his feminine side! Lavanna - I wish you could be here! I won't promise to send pics because I probably won't take any and I'm not sure if I even remember how I got the one picture on here! But I'm sure I'll be in some ( I'm not so tiny as to be easily missed).
Girls - I won't be there Saturday, as that's the day a giant trash bin is in my neighborhood and I have some guys lined up to basically clean out my attics. Problem is, these guys have had several years of drug use accumulate in their brains and I don't want them to trash the wrong rooms - so I better be here to oversee. But I will be there both nights.
To all who are traveling - may God speed (but not you) and I'll see you soon!

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Johnny - Actually, I have been to New Orleans several times and I agree with you on the food! One of those times, my mother was with us. I don't drink and she for sure didn't, but there was a complimentary (Hurricane) drink served when we went to see Al Hirt (sp?). I'm like Carla in that I can't hold very much without humorous reactions, so I just had a few sips - it was good. It just tasted like a cold fruit concoction. Mom thought so too! She downed her's pretty fast and noticing that my drink was just sitting there - and it was very hot that night - she helped herself to my drink also. Boy, did Nadine ever have a good time in New Orleans....

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

All-Bad news! I am not going to be able to attend and I am really bummed! Bill is having kidney stone issues. He will go in Thursday to have a procedure.
Today we put my mom on Hospice. They are evaluating her over the next few days. Please keep our family in your prayers. It seems like when it rains it pours! I will be with you in spirit.
Steve send me a copy of those pictures! Please encourage everyone to keep up with the message forum!!! I have enjoyed it more than you could know! I want to keep up with all of you! I love each and every one of you and your stories and just chit chat! I want to know when you have happy times and when you
have down times! Give everyone my love and have a great time...drink one for me!
Mary Ann-I can just see Nadine in New Orleans! Every good Baptist woman should get drunk just once and let their wild side show!

Carla- I was so looking forward to seeing you and meeting Bill. I was going to bring a hearing aid for Bill to try out. I think it would change his life. We will all be thinking of you. I will have a drink for you plus I will have a drink for everyone else that does not have a drink for you. Hope things go well.

Carla - I was really looking forward to seeing you again. I've had kidney stones and it was a truly awful experience. Make sure that Bill gets a lot of TLC and pain meds and everything should work out.

Rhea Joyce Freeman (Weaver)

It does not look like I'm going to be able to make it to the Reunion. I am so upset! I was really looking forward to seeing everyone after such a long time! Rodger is having infection issues again and we are waiting on a culture to find out what kind. Won't have the results until Friday. In addition, I just returned on Monday from a Convention and one of my aids says she has hurt her back and cannot work this weekend for me. I have a room reservation and won't cancel it until the last minute...just in case I work this out.

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Carla - Oh, I'm so disappointed! But I do understand..If it's possible to have the stones zapped (lazer, I think), I've heard it is much better. My mom was in hospice for awhile: those nurses were the best ever. They were excellent to keep me informed. I will for sure pray for you and your family!

07/22/09 11:51 PM #817

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Rhea - We will all be disappointed, again! But you have to do what you have to do, in situations like this. I know we all understand and will be praying for you and Rodger! We'll trust Steve to get some good pics - as long as it's with one of those 10 lb lighter cameras! I'm waiting for the 20 lb lighter camera to come out! If it should work out for you to come, it would be wonderful! Maybe the nurse knows someone else to call. Let us know for sure.

07/25/09 08:53 AM #818

Thomas Dale (Tom) Greiner

All - Sorry Peg and I can't make the reunion. Peg came done with a bad ear infection a few days ago, so keep us in your prayers. We may need to go to the emergency room today, since it seems to be getting worse despite the medicine. Hope everyone is having a good time and I'll see you at the 50th.
