Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

Gee's Judy thanks for splattering only my name on here as the smoker. Any of you girls that were with us in the car want to fess up? We thought we were so cool, wow how incredibly stupid. Yes Rhea, I do remember roaring up the street in your dads truck, again, how incredibly stupid, but so much fun. Oh yeah, and in grade school we would meet our boyfriends and practice the fine art of kissing: in the alley by Joni's house. IF I remember correctly some of you smokers were there then too. Mary Ann didn't you have a party at your house one night, hosted by your mom. We maybe dressed up I think. It was a real Wally Cleaver moment. I might be wrong about that though. And how about Teen Town, everyone think back to your best TT memories. One that I have is I didn't go to TT like I was suppose to do, instead dragged main all night, but before I could go home I had to go drive backwards around the big tree and take some miles off daddy's car, It worked, Wish I had done it though when he said I put 73 miles on the car (and to this day I still think he's wrong) anyway I was grounded for 3 wks.Ouch! I will wait until the reunion to talk to Larry Bill about my first encounter with him, I could have killed him. Hope everyone in Ok is surviving the storm this wkend, living in Mt it's truly second nature, but folks here don't understand tornados..Later Jan P.S. Rhea do you still drink Pepsi? I still like coke..

Steve, I remember being in the Jr high and wondering if we would fall thru the floor, we were on the top floor at the time, and I beleive it was daytime. When did you go up? I just remember I was not alone and we were afraid of being caught. You know when I come home I love going over that dip in front of the old Jr high site, if you go to the right it isn't so rough, but hit it head on: You can really bump your head. I don't suppose I drive as fast as I did so I won't bump my head anymore.I just had a thought maybe that dip wasn't so rough, it might have been that my 56 didn't have shocks. Speaking of the Jr High, remember that hambuger joint on the corner,, I guess it was a store and they put a cook wagon along side. Most of us never ate at school after that. And the candy of choice was mallow cups, if there was a disk in one you got one free. Wonder why they don't make those anymore? Well we have blizzard warnings for tomorrow so I have stuff to do outside better get to them. Johnnie I'm impressed how well you and Frances still get along, but we know she was always sweet, but are glad to find out you are too. (finally.) Just kiddn' you were always fun loving and nice..But it sounds like your Jan is pretty special..Patience is a virtue. Were we in Catholic school at the same time? I truly can't remember..I left 4th grade that's when I met Larry Bill. That trouble maker.

Still heading outside but had a flash back, no not a hot flash..That white Ford stationwagon my dad had, can't remember the model but it was small, anyway one night there were 22 of some of you people crammed in that car. Stacked in various positions and when we got the doors shut I drove down main. It was great fun. Becky Cogle introduced me to my first Chinese Fire Drill at the stop light on main. Well I'm going out now by golly.Hope we have things to talk about when we meet face to face..

Rhea Joyce Freeman (Weaver)

Judy, were you at one of the infamous slumber parties? Becky Cogle! That's who taught us sneak out at night and walk the streets! She was really a bad influence on us...cause she was older and "wild".
And, Johnny, I couldn't smoke very well because it made me cough..but I learned later in life. Unfortunately, it took me 30 years to quit. And, what does ROFL mean?
Yes, Jan, I remember practicing "kissing" at Joni's house...and I'm sure Bill and Chuck do too. I also remember riding in the back of a station wagon and Steve was there.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Rhea- Didn't we go see the 'spook light' that nite? By the way, Bill said that once Chuck finishes his sailboat he wants to sail around the world in it. Sounds scary to me.
Jan- I loved Mallow cups.

Where has Bruce Evans gone??? He started all of this!!! Did his computer break? BRUCE you still there? Can you hear me now? Where are your beautiful sisters. That's the only reason I was friends with you so I could get close-ups of your sisters (not really).

Lavanna- You HAVE to go see Jersey Boys if you haven't already. Susan and I saw it in Chicago last year. It's the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It will really take you back. We only have about 6" of snow so far but it's a balmy 28.

Steve - What "spook light"? I can't remember where we went but we were going "steady"!
Johnny - there is so much available out there to help you quit...you just have to make up your mind. I took the drug and chewed Nicorette for a year! I loved to smoke too but I was smoking over 3 packs a day and I began to hate the smell, etc, etc...

If anyone wants to view past reunion group pictures, you can see them on my site.

I am trying to create a separate page to put them on, but until that time I have no other place to post them.

Rhea--Why does the name "Type House" keep ringing bells with me? What exactly did you guys do there? I have spent a ton of time and money in computer graphics and type is something we were constantly in demand for.

I too dislike the way it stinks up the house and car. (shakes his head) See no one has told me how to use the drugs AND the gum. They all give the warnings. But I did some research and just the patch doesn't even come close to the amount of nicotine that I get every day. I am a pack and half a day smoker. I am beginning to think even getting hooked on the gum HAS to be better than burning a pack a day.

SO JOHNNY, WHERE ARE YOUR PICTURES? COME ON, I WANT TO SEE HOW "OLD" YOU ARE NOW!

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

I leave for just a few days, only to return and find my character smeared again! Jan was the nitcotine pusher, not me! Really,I think it was the wildest thing I could think of! Thankfully, Larry Bill cured me (earlier story).
Rhea, I remember your dad letting you drive the truck to the lake when you were 14 or 15 - he was with us. When I asked my mom, I'm pretty sure that I forgot to mention that you would be driving and not your dad!
I remeber skinny dipping in the pool a couple of times when staying the night with you. I remember each of us going to a different corner of the pool and getting in backwards (to protect our privacy.) We each kind of swam in our own little corner and then started to get out, when I saw Bill and Chuck topping the hill on their bikes! We treaded water a long, long time - I was in the deep end. I also remember treading water very quietly when the police car drove by. We slept 3 in a double bed those nights! I can't remember if they saw us or not, maybe that was to traumatic and I've blocked it out.
Did Bill and Chuck ever sleep? Anything I (or anyone else) ever did at night in Jr. High, they just appeared out of nowhere! One time, I had some girls over to spend the night on the flat part of my roof (we could crawl out from a window and there was a rail around it.) About daylight, that night (bicycle) riders appeared on my garage roof just a few feet away. How many years did you guys have those paper routes, how many miles did you cover and just how early did you leave for work?
I know I will be very busy this week, I shudder to think what might be revealed before I return.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Mary Ann- Whatever happened to that beautiful car? What would that thing be worth today??

Rhea- I remember that nite. Yes we were going 'steady' (I had given you my letter sweater) and we 'made out' in the back seat. But 'making out' then meant holding hands.

Teen Town- What memories. Remember 'baby Coors'? I thought I was such a rebel drinking a couple of those and having beer on my breath.

Did anyone but me pick up on the fact that Bill Kolb was 5 years older than all of us??? Check out his birthday on his Profile. No wonder he was so 'cool'.

And how about Clanton's after Junior High football games.

03/30/09 11:22 AM #115

Rhea Joyce Freeman (Weaver)

Mary Ann -I forgot all about Chuck and Bill at the top of the hill! Must have blocked that out. I knew the police were involved in some way. We could see for miles on the top of your flat roof! I remember you could tell your Mother anything and she believed you. My Dad let me do about anything I wanted because my Mom grounded me all the time (for nothing). You know for as much fun as we had, we really were "good girls". The stuff we did was pretty innocent! And, we were always at Church on Sunday morning.
Steve - it wasn't a back seat, we were in the back of a station wagon! I also seem to remember that you were the only guy who ever broke up with me. From then on, I did the breaking up. You taught me a very good lesson!

Lavanna-- Ha! Ha ha! Its all part of my master plan...(teeeeheeee). Actually my daughter was supposed to take a pic of me since I went to all the trouble to get my hair cut and beard trimmed. It has yet to happen. Well have to get on her tonite. :)
