Carla where did you go to find out about your family? Did you join something or find it all by hit and miss? I typed in Dirickson and had more relatives or so they say than I realized were out there. My mom's maiden name,oh my gosh. I never went any further because I was ignorant as to what to do next..Where do you start?

Jan,
We got as many names, birth dates, death dates and any info we could about where they last lived. Most of Bill's family originated in Missouri. We went to the Springfield Library and they had an area where you could research family info. We looked in old issues of newspapers for obituaries. That gave us a lot of information on family members. We went to Friendsville, Maryland to research my mom's family (Friend). We also joined Ancestry.com and have used it for Census, death, marriage, civil war, immigration, ship records etc. documents. It is so exciting to find someone that has taken a long time and a lot of searching!! It is the most awesome feeling in the world to visit the grave sites of great-great-great grandparents. We then went to the local genealogical society and found information on marriages and deaths. We have marriage licenses and many other documents on our relatives that we found in those places. We have found pictures, military records etc.. We really enjoy doing it. Many of our trips are planned around places we want to do research on family. My grandmother's family and my daddy's family have been the hardest. The names Williams and Johnston are very common. I will try to give you a call soon and share more info with you. I am trying to put together scrapbooks on each family for our kids and grandkids. My Uncle Sam and Aunt Donna Friend are the best researchers. I have made several trips with them to learn what to do and where to look. It takes time, determination and patience...but the payoff is like nothing you can imagine. When I retire I will have more time to work on the ones that have been so hard. I hope that helps you some.
Carla

Jan- I have not seen Chuck since one of the first reunions. Our 10th I believe. As for Tooter, Judy may know about her??? I think she lives close to Vinita. Steve

I'm back after having suffered terrible rejection on Facebook! I don't even know how to use it and 2 people already think I'm dumb and one thinks I'm an idiot! They posted that! How did they know that? Oh,well.
Also, I don't recommend the person that put my pic on here to help you, Lavanna. She put my pics on Classmates in sideways! She thought she was brilliant, but I think she's a dumb idiot!
I don't get on here everyday, some days are just to long and my house is torn up right now, as I'm updating to sell it. It's kind of scary because I'm not sure what I'll do when I do sell. I had this thought that I should get a condo with little upkeep (because I guess I'll just get older - it's the better choice of two.) That made me feel really old. I've been in some nice condo's here (doing home health) - I would have nice neighbors. Nice, old neighbors. I don't really want to hang with octogenrians yet!
Johnny - I was going to mail Steve a letter about lip reading, but I'll just put it on here - to whom it may concern. My girls are coming to get their stored goods this weekend -the free storage is ending soon-so that the carpet layers will have less to deal with. If I have time, I'll write this weekend.
You know, Bill threatened to write some stories on me, but I just keep reading more and more on him!
Keep this going, I enjoy it. For those of us alone, there's no-one to talk to at night and this is nice. Jan, you were right on when you said there will always be a connection.
Also, Carla was in the Fairest of the Fair, but unless anyone remembers differently, I was Miss Grand Lake - there are just no pics to prove (or disprove) it. Later..

Well, I said later. Carla and anyone else this applies to. My mom also had Alzheimer's and it's so hard to go through. I do some work with that population, in the initial stages - I'll share some things with you this weekend that might help. I'll keep you and your mom in my prayers.

SHE JUST LIVED DOWN THE ROAD FROM ME AND WE USED TO WALK TO SCHOOL AND HOME TOGETHER. LINDA YOUNG, SHE HAS E-MAILED ME EVERYDAY SINCE AND WE HAVE CAUGHT UP ON OUR LIVES. LAST NIGHT SHE GOT ON YAHOO MESSENGER AND I WAS ALREADY ON IT, SO NOW WE CAN INSTANT MESSAGE EACH OTHER. IT IS REALLY COOL!
TALKING ABOUT BEING ALONE, SO AM I, I AM DISABLED AND CAN'T GET AROUND MUCH SO I'M USUALLY HOME MOST OF THE TIME.
STEVE, IF YOU COULD HELP JUDY PUT UP MY PICS ON MY PROFILE I'D MUCH APPRECIATE IT. IF NOT THAT'S OK. JUST ANXIOUS TO SEE THEM UP. THANKS JUDY FOR THIS WEBSITE!

Steve- I am sick of Phyliss! She is so mean to Sharon! She needs to remember her past is not snow white! I want Sharon and Nick to get back together! It breaks my heart to watch them give those tormented looks to one another! I got cold chills when Murphy got on his knees to propose to Catherine! They both need each other! Amber is so in over her head! Have you caught up on Jill and Catherine's family tree?

Carla, lots of romantic places to travel and I guess you can keep some very interesting scrap-books. Incorporate all three, works for me....Hope you're having a great day, so anxious to see you.

Please do, Mary Ann on the lip reading. Would be most interested. I know our interpreters have to go thru a semester class on reading facial expressions and body language. That was interesting to find out...and use. :)

Hi everyone! I have just read through all the comments that have been posted in the past couple weeks. This is great! I remember one "major" event in jr. high. (I think) Who was with me the night we went skinny dipping in the Vinita pool at 2:00 am? I was sure we were going to be thrown in jail! I remember another time that Jan Dirickson "ran over me" with her car during a bonfire and pep rally. We were cheering and we jumped up on top of her car and my skirt was so slick that I fell under the car and was hanging onto the bumper being dragged. Mary Ann also tried to get me hooked on smoking! I will never forget that great Mustang and dragging Main.

Rhea, There were several of us at the pool a couple of times. The hole in the fence was behind the high board. Wouldn't our parents have been proud...Rhea I had forgotten all about running over you, it scared the holy crap out of me. Remember when you walked out to your burn barrel (a MT saying) and whatever you had put in exploded. I swear I never burn trash without thinking of it, I even warned my kids and told them my Rhea story. And going to your house after school you put that nights dinner in that pressure cooker, I hated it when the whistle would start, I figured someday you'd blow the roof right off that house. Remember sitting on Joni's roof and watching the taxi cabs we would call and send to the neighbors! Another proud moment. And graduation night Mr.Gray insisted there be a chaperone so Pat Sowers was inlisted. Well, if you remember Pat was with all of us at Driskill's cabin but Larry Bill and Glena weren't..Hey where were you two? Another couple was with them but I can't remember who it was???

I'm laughing so hard I can't stop! Do you remember how I used to drive my Dad's pickup down Main and I was only 14? It wasn't any fun at all when I finally got my license. Our kids would have a fit if they knew how many kids we used to put in the back of a pickup!

Rhea,
You were the first person I ever spent the night with! We were in the 9th grade. I led a sheltered life growing up in the country!

I also remember going to lunch with Jan and a car load of girls in Jan's black & white chevy, and as soon as we got in the car everyone lit up a cigarette. I was shocked beyond words. I couldn't believe they smoked!

03/28/09 05:42 AM #89

Johnnie Wayne Johnson

OH OH ... and the truth is out! and the torment and teasing you guys put me through because I smoked. LOL...oh paybacks...I feel it comin on...ROFL.

Mrs. Cotton, thats it! Thanks Linda. I couldn't remember her name to save my soul. I don't remember that much about her except the chewing I got for you girls playing dodge ball with us. We couldn't be hittin you girls with a ball...tsk tsk. There was a difference between girls and boys. LOL My first introduction into sex. Little did I know years later what that would lead to...LOL

Remember the crush I had on you and Daisy at the same time. LOL

Names Judy! I want the names of the girls in that car..LOL. Fess up girl! LMAO

Jan- I got an e-mail from Bill Kolb yesterday. He says he sees Chuck a few times a year when he visits his mother who lives in Claremore. He had a corporation that supplied doctors to trauma centers around Florida that he sold a couple of years ago. Now he is just an employee of that company. Bill says that he looks really good. He works with a trainer daily and is still building on his sailboat that he talked about when he attended the last reunion.
Carla- Yeah, that Phyllis is a meanie, but I'm just worried about poor Kevin and Amber right now.
Did anyone other than me sneak up to the 4th floor of our Junior High School? Remember it had been condemned.

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

OH JOHNNY, I DID SOMETHING I SHOULDN'T HAVE AND I THINK I TOLD YOU I WOULDN'T DO BUT I COULDN'T HELP IT. WHEN YOU ASKED FOR SOMEONE TO GET HER ON THE FORUM I JUST HAD TO E-MAIL HER AND INVITE HER ON. TEE HEE!!! THIS SHOULD BE FUN IF SHE COMES ON BOARD!

Who was it that painted the marquee outside the Jr. High School and then came to school the next day with paint all over them. Chuck and Bill maybe???
Bill and I accepted a ride home from one of you girls after an 8th grade basketball game in Miami. The next day we both got an introduction to the Board of Education.
