Nadine Mrowicki I am glad its just not me!
I am just rolling laughing...that is so true!! You were in the special class...you pass IPI with flying colors, and put you in an honor class in high school..how F up is that!!!???? lol

Suzanne Briden Canales This is just hysterical, I am rolling with ya Na. IPI who could forget that? And you really had to ace it to be put in the Special Class.

Buzzy Neighbour Will Friday was super smart, I used to try to get some of it to rub off on me, but he wasn't into cheating for some reason.Another was Bob Fergison, went to his house to study a few times, I might as well have been sitting in a sand box with the neighborhood cats trying to cover me up,Then try to keep up with those guys.

Lynne Guibord Landis  Just the name Will Friday alone - sounds so damn smart LOL

Cathie Rogers OMG thank you all for the laughs. I didn't remember IPI until Sue talked about filling in the dots. I have lmao at some of this stuff. Thank you all for the memories and the laughs. When life gets to be too much, I come to these discussion pages and read about a much simpler life and it brings back some good memories. Too bad we didn't realize then how good life was!

Tom Petzold Yeah, IPI and those friggin IQ,,,,ahem,,,,aptitude tests......one year I was sooooo bored I filled in the dots to make a pattern of a bunny or something. One of the few times my parents HAD to go to school. The counselors(that trem used veeeeery loosely) thoguht because I did so bad, I must be using drugs...LOL.

Bill Schreitmueller I'll brag for a minute and then come back to the reality of my school math IQ....I transfered to West Belmar from St Rose in 4th grade. The nuns and the parocial school education in general were a step ahead of public school...when initially placed -- I started out in level F -- the highest in my class by far...but the system was built in favor of kids who were self learners, easily motivated and could work on their own...at the time, I didn't qualify in any of those catagories....it wasn't long until kids were passing me by like I was road kill.

Cynthia Bass This is a late entry to the IPI discussion. I am related to a woman who was a 7th grade Math teacher at the Intermediate school while we were there. I asked her a few questions about IPI and here is her response.

In answer to your question, IPI stood for Individually Prescibed Instruction..It was the "high tech" math package of the day! A student could move as quickly as possible through 8th grade math. We had so many students who were finishing the entire sequence before 8th grade that we got a grant to write the "next level"---algebra. I'm sure the whole program is in the dumpster now! :)
