Todd "TK" Klein, 36, a Hallock resident, died at the Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.
Todd was born at Kittson Memorial Hospital, Hallock, March 21, 1965, the son of David and Janice Klein.
He attended school at Hallock and the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
On July 23, 1988, he married Mary Beth Kangas. They resided and worked on the family farm in South Red River Township and later relocated to Hallock. Todd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and also taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Hallock football coaching staff from 1986 - 1990, which included a state semi-final season in 1987 and a championship team in 1988. Todd was a member of the USA Hockey and Minnesota State High School League Referee's Association.
Family survivors include his wife, Mary Beth; two daughters, Lindsey and Sydney; a son, Noah; his parents, David and Janice Klein, Hallock; two brothers, Scott (Sherri) Klein and Kevin (Sonja) Klein, Hallock; grandmother, Norma Bengtson, Hallock; four nieces and one nephew; brothers-in-law, Phil (Wanetta) Kangas, Biawabik, Minn.; Rick (Jeanine) Kangas, Brainerd; sister-in-law Nancy (Dan) Oellerich, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; a maternal grandfather and step grandfather.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 11, 10:30 a.m., First Presbyterian Church, Hallock, and Todd is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Hallock.

I remember Todd well from elementary school. He was always one of the first chosen for teams in phy. ed. He started driving sugar beet trucks during harvest in 4th grade, and he was very excited about doing such grown-up work. He moved away after 4th grade. I'm glad he got to farm on his own. Peace to his memory.
