Marcia A Paulson Priebe

September 10, 1945 - September 16, 2024

MARCIA ANN PRIEBE, age 79, of Waseca, passed away following a short illness on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Owatonna Hospital.

Born on September 10, 1945, in Waseca, Marcia was the daughter of Henry and Marie (O’Riley) Paulson. She attended Waseca Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1963. On December 19, 1964, Marcia married John E. Priebe at First Congregational Church in Waseca. They began their married life in Mankato while John continued his education. For the next ten years, they lived in the Twin Cities, where Marcia worked as a record keeper for North Memorial Hospital. In 1976, they returned to Waseca, where they raised their three sons. Marcia later worked at Waseca Memorial Hospital in record keeping before starting her own business, assisting others with their finances. She initially operated this business from their farm home before moving to Otisco Bank and eventually working alongside her husband at the Priebe Financial office in Waseca.

Marcia enjoyed playing cards, especially with the Monday Card Club, traveling, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township, where she helped with funeral lunches and participated in various church activities. Marcia was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be remembered as a devoted wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother. Blessed be her memory.

Marcia is survived by her sons: Jim (special friend, Laurie Mariner) and Justin, both of Waseca; grandchildren: Jovae Priebe, Jalea (Eric) Spies, Zach Smith, Ben Priebe (special friend, Madi Luebke) and R.P. Priebe (special friend, Grace Baker); great grandchildren: Kyra, Kendrich, and Cal Spies, Kendyl Priebe; daughter-in-law, Jenny Priebe; siblings: IveLee (Norm) Wolfe, Dorothy Ihrke, Ilene (Bob) Nikoley, Diane Anderson, and Dale (Linda) Paulson; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Priebe and Norine Paulson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years; son, John P. Priebe, grandchildren in infancy, Noah and Samuel Priebe; brother, Wayne Paulson; brothers-in-law, Gerald Priebe, Dennis Priebe, Dean Ihrke, and Phillip Anderson.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township, Waseca County with Rev. Larry Sipe, officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.

Marcia’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Waseca Police Department and the staff at North Memorial Ambulance, Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca and Owatonna Hospital for the loving care their mom received.

I had a great conversation with Marcia at our reunion last year. I'm sure she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. My sympathies go to her family.

Here are some mini-reunions with Marcia's friends.  We were happy to see her at the 60th Reunion last year and she was signed up for the upcoming one on the 28th.  I was especially happy to connect Marcia with Craig's wife after he died last year.  Craig often mentioned Marcia as a childhood friend.

From Jane Ferch Kroeger, here is the cover of the service.  The two songs are ones Marcia liked so well---especially Christmas songs.

Here is a memory from Jane Ferch Kroeger.

Recently, Marcia asked Jane if they could look for Ronnie Wendland's grave in Woodville cemetery.
Marcia had been one of those friends who were with Ronnie when he was tragically killed by a hit-and-run car near the roller rink.  He was 13 years old.  Marcia's mother placed flowers on his grave for many years afterward.

Marcia had asked about his grave many times and Jane felt they had to find it.  So, with help from the map and workers at the cemetery, she did it for Marcia.  "That was a good closer," according to Jane.
