ANNOUNCEMENTS

COVID PROTOCOL FOR REUNION

JUST A QUICK CLARIFICATION ON OUR COVID REQUIREMENTS AS QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ASKED.

WE ARE REQUIRING PROOF OF VACCINATION - A PHOTO ON YOUR PHONE WILL SUFFICE OR

A NEGATIVE COVID TEST WITH RESULTS WITHIN 72 HOURS.  YOU DO NOT NEED BOTH.

IF YOU HAVE NEITHER OF THESE, WE ASK THAT YOU WEAR A MASK.  THANKS EVERYONE!

Sharon Miller wanted to share this message to all of her classmates: Dear Class of 1970 Classmates and Friends, I will not be joining you for the celebrations this week as Covid has reared its ugly head again and made the trip too expensive and risky for me and my husband. After planning for this for more than a year, I am sad I will not be with you to mark this milestone in our lives. Congratulations to all of you for making it there to be together! Just think of the last 50+ years since we were ALL together – and what has happened since then – WOW!! We have seen the development of the PC – who can live without it? The internet? Really – who can live without it?? And the mobile phone – I mean REALLY – who can live without it? Things seem to happen very fast and communications get shorter and shorter… Electric cars – even some self-driving cars! More people are flying into space, and who knows where our children or grandchildren will end up living? Then came Covid! I hope you all keep well, and perhaps we are even able to have another reunion sans Covid! (maybe in 5 years?) Wishing you all the best and many happy years to come! If you get over to Europe, please let me know – I would be happy to connect and show you around Denmark or Spain! Thank you to the committee for all the work they have put in to this reunion-they deserve a huge applause! Best wishes, Sharon

COMMITTEE UPDATE EMAIL

Due to a staffing shortage, Alioto's cannot accommodate our group at a level originally outlined for us if we hold our event outdoors.  In addition, it would not be logistically possible for us or Alioto's to prevent the public from entering the private tent area.  Plus, weather is always a factor.

Consequently, we are going to be using the downstairs banquet hall that we originally booked.  The room is quite large with a capacity of 275.  This will easily accommodate our group of 110 Raiders and guests for dining and socializing in safety and comfort.

There have been a few inquiries as to what steps are being taken to maintain a safe environment.  Following CDC and local guidelines of area events such as Summerfest and some Tosa Establishments, we request that you be able to show proof of being fully vacinated or recently testing negative (standard 72 hour time frame)  for Covid.  Masks will be optional for those two groups.

If you are unable to provide either we request that you wear a mask.  Extra face masks will be available at the check in table and Alioto's will make hand sanitizer readily available.

Times are 6-11pm.  Let friends & siblings from Class 1968-1972 know about the dance.  They are welcome after 7:30pm.

The Friday Pub Crawl will now be held on the patio of Leff's Luckytown on 72nd & State St. in Tosa.  This starts at 7pm.

The school tour on Saturday afternoon will be with Principal Hughes and masks are required.  Time to be announced.

See you on September 18th!

Please take our "How many are coming?" survey

We have 162 registered classmates on our reunion site and half have indicated if they are or aren't coming or maybe thinking about it. This survey gives the committee valuable insight to everyone's committment to our reunion and dictate important decisions we have to make.  Remember this is not your reservation.  Payment must be sent in!

Thank you from the committee!!

We have quite a few missing classmates.  If you have any contact information on anyone on the list please tell them to share their whereabouts with us.  Thank you,

The Reunion Committee:  Jeanette Barkhausen Roncke, Joanne Koepke Owen, Mary Harpt Banker, Jayne Bachman Larson, Judy Peters Bosley, Scott Sperry, and in memoriam,  Barb Haydon Avallone.

CONTACTING FELLOW CLASSMATES

For those of you wanting to reconnect with fellow classmates, there are several ways.

By clicking on their name on Classmates Profile, you are directed to their profile where you will see an envelope to send a private message.  Or you can leave a message directly on their profile.

This way of connecting provides privacy to all classmates.  NO personal information is visible.  You can share emails, phone numbers etc. through the private message envelope icon.

I hope you explore the site and reconnect with friends, that is what a reunion is all about!! See you next September!
