John Van Doran Bowman (March 8, 1941 - October 10, 2025)

John passed away peacefully in St. Louis; he was born in Webster Groves and attended Webster Groves schools through the 10th grade, although he graduated from Whitfield High School in 1959. He received a Bachelor's degree from Westminster College in 1963.
John began his career in sales at Laclede Steel before devoting more than 37 years of his career to Archway Sales, where he was known for his integrity and dedication.
A devoted husband of 56 years, John is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne (Hofer); his children Tom Bowman and Andrew Bowman; Tom’s wife Kara (Eckert); and his cherished grandchildren, Casey and Charlie Bowman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Thomas “Red” and Dorothy “Polly” (Pollitt) Bowman, brother Charles Thomas, sister Jane (Bowman) Wells.
John found his greatest joy was his family and his passions. An avid fisherman, he looked forward to his yearly fishing trips to Minnesota. His lifelong love of classic cars became a full time job after retirement, restoring vintage race cars with meticulous care and craftsmanship. A Master Falconer with the Missouri Department of Conservation, he also spent many hours training and hunting with hawks.
A visitation will be held at Bopp Chapel on Saturday afternoon, October 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
