In Memoriam

Judith Ann Heath (Skrbina)

Judy Heath Skrbina (November 4, 1941 - September 9, 2024)

Judith "Judy" Ann Heath Skrbina, 82, of Collbran, CO passed away on September 9, 2024.  Judy was born in Webster Groves, MO. After college, Judy moved to Denver for a job at the Federal Center where she met the love of her life, Rudy Skrbina. Rudy and Judy were married on January 28, 1967, and Judy gained three daughters and later welcomed a son in 1969. The family packed up and moved to the small town of Collbran, CO where they would complete their family in 1971 with the birth of their daughter.

Judy was actively involved in her community, working at Plateau Valley School as a teacher's aide and then the school Secretary as well as serving on the PV School Board. Judy's passion for education was apparent throughout her career, and many of her colleagues became lifelong friends.

After retirement, Judy and Rudy enjoyed a slower and more relaxed lifestyle, allowing them to travel with friends in the winter and spend a lot of time with their kids and grandkids throughout the summer months. She enjoyed cheering on grandkids at all of their various events and was always up for a quick road trip with her daughter to watch her grandkids play. After Rudy died, Judy became a member of a singing group, Crystal Crackers, where she forged incredible friendships through mutual love of music and community.

Her home was at the center of the family, filled with love and many cherished memories, including that familiar scent of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (and extras in the freezer to send home). Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy is survived by her children, Cindy (Dale) York, Chris (David) Long, Rudy (Leslie) Skrbina, and Beverly McIvor, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Beverly Heath, her husband, Rudy Skrbina, daughter Caren Coulson, and sister Mary Beth Berry.

A memorial service was held at the Collbran Congregational Church on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hope West of Grand Junction, CO.

This obituary was published in The Daily Sentinel, Grand Junction, and on the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary & Crematory website.
