What have you been up to since 1989?
Changed my name from Boettcher to Holland.
Got married, had kids, styled my hair grey, and so much more.
Now that I've received numerous e-mails asking what I've been up to (for real and no BS) I'll tell you.
In 1990, I started in the building trades as a heating and air conditioning grunt. I worked for wieners and beans and after 7 years, I decided to take the entrepreneurial leap. Kari and I were married for 2 ½ years and decided to have children. We felt that it would be best if one parent could stay home and raise our children while the other parent worked. Guess who that was? She quit her job at WB Mutual and I quit my job at Cliff Bergin and Associates. It was a mutual decision and the best thing we’ve done for our children (and family) by far. Since our first child was born, we’ve been blessed with that luxury of having Kari home each and every day raising our kids. Not everyone can do that and I completely understand why. Anyway, after several years of killing myself working way too many hours I decided it was time to expand and grow the company. In 2003, 15 other companies and I met in Omaha, Nebraska and launched One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning. Today we are North America’s largest home services company (www.onehourair.com). Now I know it sounds good but, I am only the owner of six Wisconsin territories. The corporate office is in Sarasota Florida and owned by Clockwork Home Services. Kari and I live in Cedarburg and have been together since 1990. She was a senior and I had just completed high school. Today, we’ve been married 15 years. I told her if she ever leaves me I’m going with. Anyway, about 1 ½ years ago I left the company and turned it over to a general manager and operations manager. That means I no longer worked. I spent much of the time caring for my dad who passed away in November of 08. I spend a lot of time at our home in northern Wisconsin and worked as a trainer and speaker for other companies in the building trades. However, in July of 2009 I will be going back to work full-time in Little Chute, Wisconsin. We are opening four new territories in that market. I will travel back and forth each day until I have a manager in place that can run that location. In December of 2008 I sold the liquor store and hardware store that I owned in Jackson.
I enjoy golfing, fishing, hunting, my family, God, reading, gardening and so much more.
I feel awkward telling you all of this because I’d rather make up some crazy story and run with it. So enjoy, because I may change this real soon. Later!
