I, too, would love to have something with all the kids on Saturday. The bandstand at the park, or even one of the shelters, seems like a really nice idea. They usually aren't too busy that time of year, especially for an AM or early PM get together. Come one, who has connections at the park? We all know somebody has to have some? Fess up? BTW, I too enjoyed the 80's and 90's Child area, but you forgot to mention KIDS INCORPORATED! They were, like, totally AWESOME, DUDE!! LOL

i've called both parks about picnic sites. the shelters ALL range in price from $90 for the bandstand at wheeling park to $150 and up. we only need a commitment from a handful of people who would be willing to donate to make this possible and really get things off the ground. i'm still waiting for those emails to flood my box!!!! i'll throw in the first $10 to get it started. :) our other option is to go with lone picnic tables which are much more affordable at only 10 bucks, but does not safeguard us against a rainy day. that is a pretty high-risk plan and could force us to have to cancel the event. i'm with megan...who has connections in this town?!?! thanks for all the suggestions...keep 'em coming!

p.s. i bumped into matt allietta today at the zoo, and we both agreed that we wouldn't have recognized each other if not for this site. how cool is that?!?!

ok...i just had another thought to throw out there. McDonald's Playland?!?!? it is free, it is available and kids of all ages love it. we could reserve the upstairs room, bring in snacks for the adults and all they ask is that we buy a few happy meals. the reservation times may be from 10-1 or 1-4. maybe not as relaxing as a picnic at the park, but it is an option. what do we think?

I will probably not be able to make a saturday picnic with my kids but if you need advice i would try John Geary who is now the Valley Grove Mayor and i believe a 1994 graduate of park . He could probably hook you up with the valley grove park which is large and has a huge shelter. He may understand the situation you are all up against and possibly be a big help. i think the covered dish idea is also the best and cheapest route also. And who knows, since it is still a little ways off i may be able to also attend.

I think the picnic is a great idea & would be glad to pitch in towards the cost of the shelter or where ever it may be. Covered dish is also a good idea. Let me know what I can do to help!!!!!

thanks randy for the connection, but the valley grove community park is already taken for that whole weekend. and thanks to everyone else for your suggestions and input. the emails are starting to pour in as are the donations. we'll be making some final decisions ASAP. please continue to send your emails. it has been very helpful to know where people stand with this idea.

now calling all of the musicians in the bunch...i thought it would be fun to have a little live music at the picnic. i am just learning to play guitar and can barely pluck a recognizable 'twinkle stars,' but i know we have some band connections among us. anyone willing to play?

Great ideas for the kids. I do agree about a cover dish, it less expensive. Try the dea juv band, my brother -in- law is apart of the band. They played at the waterfront during the summer and up at warwood.

Hey Jodi...my hubby & I do not have kids, but we could donate goody bags for the children. We would like to do something to help you all out. Let me know if you all would like them.

i can dress up in my old band uniform and play drums if you want..... lol

Wendy M. Clutter

Matt, I think we should wear the Warwood green uniforms that we sold a million pizzas to buy!! (Or was that for our trip to Canada?)

You could play WIPEOUT!!

Jodi A. Ennis (Hunt)

thank you all so much for your willingness to help. this has certainly been a group effort, and i think it is shaping up very nicely!
the picnic will be on saturday at one of the wheeling park shelters from 11-2. we are still needing donations to cover the shelter and misc. stuff. also, we need people who would be willing to bring something...paper products, covered dish, dessert, hot dog buns, condiments, char coal...etc. please let me know if i can mark you down for something.
we have lots of exciting things in the works that will help to make our picnic lots of fun for EVERYONE...not just families with children. the more the merrier!!!

I'll be right next to Matt playing my trumpet. It's only been about 20 years since I've played so it will be music to everyone's ears. lol :-)

Although I won't be bringing my kids, I think the picnic is a great idea too.

I will pay for the whole shelter if Wendy, Allison, and Matt put on their Warwood band outfits and play...haha I am cracking myself up. Too bad I would actually miss it.. I will be coming back from Kauai the Wednesday before and don't think I will be in good form to make the trip home.

Beth M. Springer (Brown)

Hey Nat, I'm totally with ya! And glad I wasn't in the band to get roped into that group! Too bad you're not gonna make it, would be nice to have a Herd fan to watch the game with us! (Congrats on the wedding, btw!)

Charolett S. Hall (Diaz)

Hey Beth, There is nothing wrong with a HERD fan...I went to Marshall. Although I know they have no chance. (LOL)

08/29/08 09:22 PM #39

Jodi A. Ennis (Hunt)

ok...so we have matt on drums, and wendy and allison on the horns. i hope you guys can still fit into those sexy uniforms since provenzano is flashing the cash! not to mention the fact that you would be the most entertaining act around!!

I know three local 93 WPHS grads who can play some mean bluegrass/old time music. A guitarist, banjoist, and a multi-talented banjo/stand up bassist. I won't mention their names(so as not to pressure them) because I'm confident that they will willingly/gladfully put on a great show at the Saturday family picnic. Looking forward to seeing everyone. I've been studying pictures and profiles so that I'm ready.

08/31/08 11:17 PM #41

Jodi A. Ennis (Hunt)

hey josh...funny that you should mention that band...i have twisted their arms as far as i can and have gotten nowhere! they are all coincidentally "busy" that day. good luck...they're a tough bunch, but maybe there's hope yet!

Natalie A. Provenzano (Fygetakes)

So, i can not make this reunion (so sad - but I will be in Hawaii -so, not that sad) but I do not want to miss the 20th! I hope it happens and I vote for Thanksgiving weekend!!!
Also - Marshall and WVU both stink but I still say GO HERD, KICK WVU"s ARSE!

Hi all,

I hate to sound *like* totally high schooly, but *like* what are you ladies wearing to the steak fry? lol..

seriously, I've only been to 2. Are you going for comfort, or dressing all pretty?

Also, wondering if some guys would be willing to help some of us who have never grilled before tend to our steaks?(that's what boys are for, right!)

Looking forward to it!
Wendy W.

hey wendy...i vote for "comfortable-chic" but that's just the practical side of me shining through. and, i'm with you on the grillin'...i hope chivalry is not dead!

09/13/08 09:53 PM #45

Catherine Rosser (Bell)

Hey, Wendy, I will be coming straight from work so, i will be casual, and i hope you are right about helping out,

09/15/08 10:13 PM #46

Charolett S. Hall (Diaz)

You girls are funny...at least now I can convince my husband that it is a genuine concern from other ladies besides myself. I think he thought I was nuts. So I assume since is "casual-chic" for Friday, that we will be dressing our best for Saturday evening!?
