Since I left FH Collins in the spring of 2006, I have lived in Trenton Ontario. When I left FH Collins, I left for health reasons. In January 2006, I had suffered an episode of compartment syndrome in both my legs, crippling me...temporarily. I was medivaced to St. PaulsHospital in Vancouver, and after recovering spent two months in a Rehabilitation Center, learning how to walk again. I returned to Whitehorse and wrapped up almost 30 years of living in the Yukon. I sold my home in June, and relocated to Trenton. My parents and my sister live in Trenton, so it made sense for me to move and be closer to them. I had been in the Yukon since I graduated from University and to be back with my family was absolutely wonderful.
I live a quiet life with my partner, Catherine, who I met in Toronto in May, 2008. She is also retired... from a career as an addictions counsellor. I have been active recovering my health. I have had a hip replacement and two knee replacement surgeries since my move to Trenton. I walk fairly well, but use a cane. I also keep track of my three children all of whom live in Ontario. My oldest boy, Janis is presently working as an intern at the Fan 590, Toronto's largest sports radio station. After graduating from Carleton University with a B.A., Janis completed a diploma course in Sports Journalism at Centenial College. My daughter Arija completed an Honours B.A. in French and English at the University of Ottawa in April 2011. She is presently living at home in Arnprior working as a waitress and taking a couple of courses at the University of Ottawa. My youngest child is my boy, Dainis. He is presently in his third year of Environmental Studies at Sir Sanford Flemming College in Lindsay, Ontario. All three children are happy with their lives, and I have a good relationship with all three.
I have not returned to the Yukon since I left in 2006, but plan to in the next year. I hope to bump into a number of past grads of FH Collins during my visit.
