passed after a brief battle with brain cancer (Central Nervous System Lymphoma) on Oct. 17, 2019 just after friends and family surrounded her to celebrate her 75th birthday on Oct. 16.  Susan was born in Wichita, KS to Frank and Maxine Ellis. She graduated from North High in 1962 and went on to graduate from Emporia State University. Susan began her P.E. teaching career in 1966 at Cherryvale Jr. High (KS). Beginning in 1969, she taught girl's PE at El Dorado Junior High/Middle School for 33 years until her retirement in 2002. Afterwards, she spent 13 years as a volunteer for El Dorado's USD 490 "I Can Read" program. Susan was also a summer volunteer staff member for 45 years at Tamahay Camp in Akeley, MN.  Susan is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Clark Ellis (Theresa) of LaFayette, Colorado and sister Linda Turner (Miles) of Wichita, KS; 3 nephews, Miles Turner (Lindsey Fry) of Wichita, Chris Ellis (Jana) and Matt Ellis both of Colorado; a great nephew & niece, Luke & Lily; and godchildren, Mackenzie (Curtis) Caya & Bailey Lincoln.  Though her family was small, she more than made up for it in friends! A Celebration of Life will be held at Quincy's Bar & Grill, 2047 N. West St., Wichita, KS 67203 on Saturday, November 9th, 2019, 4-7pm. Heavy appetizers provided.
