Deems "Doc" Peterson

 

LENEXA - Peterson, Deems "Doc", 70, passed away on April 18, 2014 at his home in Lenexa after a battle with cancer. Deems was born on April 2, 1944, in Wichita. He graduated from North High School, received his bachelor's degree from Wichita State University and pursued a career in sales within several sectors of the Wichita and Kansas City business communities. Deems was proud to have served his country as a US Navy Corpsman; American Legion Riders past director of chapters 370 & 407, past Kansas ALR area director, past Department Kansas ALR committeeman, and Patriot Guard ride captain. His leadership in programs and missions dedicated to our veterans, past and present, ensured their success truly providing the example of "service to others before self". Deems is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Nadine (Abel) Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Peterson; daughters, Lisa Peterson (Merriam) and Amber Peterson (Kansas City); grandson Brendan Peterson (Lenexa); sisters, Jan Webb (Olathe) and Kelly Harper (Wichita). A special thanks to the members of VFW #7397 who diligently provided support and dedication.
