Obituary for Clara Lies

Clara Louise Lies, 72, formerly of Gardner, KS, passed away May 8, 2016, in Corpus Christi, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main, Gardner, KS. Burial will follow at St. Columbine Catholic Cemetery in Edgerton. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, May 13, 2016, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, 913-856-7111. A Rosary will be said at 8:00 pm after the visitation. Clara was born February 20, 1944 in Reno, NV to Virginia Louise (Wood) and Bernard W. Roets. She was a 1962 graduate of Wichita North High School. Clara married Melvin Arthur Lies on December 30, 1961 in Wichita. They lived in Gardner before moving to Texas in 2010 where they enjoyed travel in their RV. Clara was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Docey Dandies. She was a 4-H leader for Busy Bees and Sunnyside 4-H Clubs and served as a Den Mother. She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Judy Ann Edwards and Bernadette Kay Lies, brother Billy Roets and sister Toni Kay Roets. Clara is survived by her husband Melvin, of the home; children David Lies and wife Beate of Waterboro, SC; Pamela Hermon and husband Glenn of Spring Hill, KS, Donna Lansing and husband Mick of Leavenworth, KS, and Donald Lies and wife Cheryl of Gardner; 11 grandchildren; brother Earl Roets of Stagecoach, NV and sister Connie Prouse of Meade, KS.
