June 28-29, 2014….

...we were fewer in number, but we more than made up for it in connection, reconnection, and warmth (both literally and figuratively). 

This site will remain active for the foreseeable future;  please feel free to post your own memories and reflections.  More than once we heard reference to old slides and photos packed away “somewhere.”  We would all love to have you post them--or send them to Corkey or Joy for posting.

Reflections:

Some had been to our event in 2010 and came back for more; others were back again for the first time, bringing with them recollections with fresh perspective among friends in a welcoming, comfortable place that still feels like home.  

After conversation, food, recollection and stories in Puhlman Hall (aka: the parish hall), Terry, Brett and Bill picked up guitars and sang us back to circa 1970.  Eventually, we gathered outside in the shaded columbarium to remember by name those no longer with us; current rector, Kristin White blessed the new bench placed there in their honor.  

Many of us continued conversations over dinner at Hackney’s on Lake, where we were joined by some unable to be there during the day.

Overnight storms gave way to bright sun that allowed for a good mix of reunionites and “regular” parishioners at Gillson Park for the beach service.  Jerry Anderson preached a captivating sermon that clearly summarized the essence of the era in which he first arrived at St. Augustine’s and led to his role as “fearless leader” of the youth.  We lingered over refreshments, enjoying each other…the day…the weekend, reluctant to let it go.

Anyone can contribute to the Memorial Bench fund, by writing a check for any amount payable to St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, with "Memorial Bench" (important!) in the memo line.
