2010 Reunion
July 31-August 1, 2010.....A great time was had by all:
Our reunion weekend has come and gone but the reunion website will remain active. A wonderful time was had by all who could attend. Please feel free to post any pictures and reflections that you might have. Stay tuned for Corkey's slide show and additional pictures that Art (her son-in-law) took!
Reflections from the weekend:
We came because we wanted to be there, to re-gather, knowing already that we would be welcomed, and we in turn would welcome each other. We hadn’t realized we were homesick, and just how good it would feel to be together again….to be home.
It was a glorious day in Wilmette, following a night of typical Midwestern summertime storms.
Thirty-nine of us gathered for lunch in St. Augustine’s Puhlman Hall, and a dozen or so others drifted in during the afternoon open house filled with recollecting, reflecting, story-telling, honoring, and easy laughter. It culminated in a sing along in the church with former choirmaster, Bill Bottom at the piano directing us with his signature flare. Terry McCracken knocked our socks off with a solo of St. Patrick’s Breastplate and general vocal leadership, and Bill Babcock with his guitar, offered up an impeccable rendition of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.
Many reconvened later in the evening at Hackney’s on Lake.
Sunday’s Sandy Mass was well attended by former and current parishioners alike. (Now) Rev. Bob Towner delivered a reflective homily that in essence, spoke on behalf of each reunionite. Terry sang the final blessing, and drew applause from the Methodists who were worshiping across the way.
It was indeed, a weekend that fed our souls.
