Stephen Bradbury

Stephen Bradbury

WILLIAMSBURG - Stephen Wayne Bradbury, 47, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008.
Steve attended and graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College and the University of Phoenix. He was employed and contracted by Northrop Grumman as an information technology administrator.
Steve was an amazing person who would do anything he could for others and will continue to do so in death with the gift of life as an organ donor. He was a jack of all trades, whether it was fixing someone's computer or restoring a classic Mustang, he did it well. He also enjoyed playing pool and darts with his friends. The loser always had to rack. Steve now has the 'Flea'!
He was a devoted husband, dad, pawpaw (grandfather), son and friend and he will be missed by all. He loved the people in his life, and those who knew him are better because of him.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Bradbury; one daughter, Angie Gank and her husband, Kirby, of Smithfield; his parents, Marvin and Frances Bradbury of York County; his grandmother, Ona Bradbury of Eden, N.C.; two grandchildren, Ryan Gillespie and Haley Gank of Smithfield; and his best friend and brother, Doug Glass and his wife, Ana 'AV', of York County; and numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home with Sheriff C.W. 'Charlie' Phelps officiating.
In lieu of flowers or other condolences, the family requests that you give a contribution to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.

I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has chosen for me. I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I've now found peace at the end of day.

If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow Look for the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seems all to brief; Don't lengthen your pain with undue grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee,God wanted me now-He set me free

im so sorry to hear this news . i just found this web site a few months ago and i didn't realize how many people i knew in high school. that i would remember ,its been 30 yrs. stephen and i went to school together for wow for ever. over the years you tend to not forget but not think about the people in your life when you were younger. funny i just was thinking about him when i saw his name on the list and a few others , while i read some writings on this site about who would remember who. and how they all are doing and how life was treating them. how many married and had kids ,then grandkids .then i saw this. i was sad to say i never got the chance to say hello again after all these years. but the poem u have here is beautiful. i wish his family sympathy.live life to its fullest, which im sure he did he was a great guy in school im sure he still was that great guy i new back then, now. god rest his soul.kathy hoyt engle
