I don't remember the exact year either but I think it was
1983. There used to be a photo and copy of the obit on the wall at Wilburns Texaco.

David was a great friend, my favorite vehicle I have ever owned, and I have had many, was the one he rebuilt.
Rest in Peace my friend

David died in a car accident in 1982. He hit a patch of ice coming off of the York River bridge on the York County side and his car went into the on coming lane and was hit broad side by an elderly couple from Florida. David was killed instantly.David and I had been on a double date that night and we saw one of his favorite bands Skip Castro over in VA Beach earlier. We had split up to take our dates home and David was on his way back from his girlfriends house which was in Gloucester. I'll scan in a copy of his obituary next week and send it in...Still tears me up when I think about him......

David was a big teddy bear who gave great hugs. He had a wild side when with the brotherhood- Jack, Alan, Mike, Tom, and Pete. A sweet side when he was with the ladies. I can still remember slow dancing with him at TIS to Seals & Crofts' Summer Breeze. He surprised me one Christmas with gift in hand, I was nervous he would run into "bad boy" Sean McCormick who was to arrive any moment.
Remember when David broke his arm after a tire exploded at Wilburn's Texaco? He was working on his car after hours- his passion. I am so glad to have seen David a few days before his passing, we shared our last conversation and hug until eternity.

David was a great guy. He and Jack had come by earlier that week to do a brake job on my car. I only asked for advice, but David insisted on doing it. He stopped by my house the day he died to check on the car and visit. I'll never forget the last time I saw him. Mike Foretich called me to tell me what happened and I couldn't believe it. We were both busy those days and didn't get to hang out often. I feel blessed to have seen him that day and it's almost like he came over to say goodbye. He actually apologized for not coming over more often. It's funny that I was the only kid on Paradise Point Rd. David was allowed to hang around when we were in school. I'm not sure I deserved it, but I'm a better person for it. David would do anything for a friend.

We shared homeroom all through high school. David, Wayne Skinner and I usually sat together. I remember some guy giving me a hard time about something (the person and situation long forgotten)but I'll never forget the way David stepped in and took up for me. He was a big teddy bear.

I went looking for him at our 10 year reunion, only to find that he was gone. I hadn't lived on the peninsula since graduation and hadn't heard of the accident.
